Any 3D Artists in here?

Bit of a blender nut here too, I've been using it since the start of 2001. For the last 4 years or so I've been concentrating mainly on low-poly game models. Before that I would keep starting projects and then never finishing them. I liked working on certain parts, getting them right and then moving on to something different. My interest is more expreimental and learning rather then working on a complete image.

I've done quite a lot of architecture work and weapon models, that sort of thing. Thinking of getting into character design but I can never get a realistic looking head :)

Don't have any images with me atm but I might post up some weapons that I did. I hate UV mapping and amn't great at texturing so many of them were left untextured sadly.

I did quite a few years ago in 3D Max. Had someone giving me lessons but lost touch with them. Really enjoyed it though.

Would love to see some more.

my brother did some 3d modeling before :) here is some of his unfinished and finished models

I used to do 3D scenes a long time ago, like when I was 15, wasn't much commercially available then to do 3D stuff, and sadly that was the days of floppies and I no longer have any of, even though it's terrible by today's standards.

OP, those last two look great!

What program are you using?

The bathroom is brilliant. I had to do a double-take on that one.

Why the fisheye effect though? Is it rendered like that or can you remove the effect and show it from a more traditional perspective?

thanks for the kind words mate, I put the fisheye affect on because for that image I wanted to cram more of the room into the viewable area. I have a render somewhere where I just used the normal lens, ill try find it.

That is quite honestly a stunning piece of work. I know less than bugger-all about this sort of thing but even now I'm sat here doing a double-take and marvelling at the quality.

Top work, sir, top work.

VERY nice Sambo. I keep meaning to plan out my house and with my time off I'm gonna get myself round to it.

I assume the render engine is VRAY? Got any tips or guides for the materials?

Yep, I do use Vray. The first tip I would give if you were doing anything architectural would be to use Vray! :p it has very realistic area lighting and gives you plenty control over your work. I'm no rendering superman but do let me know if there is anything specifically you need help with - and if I dont know im sure someone else reading this thread might.

Its something ive always been interested in but not had the time to have a good bash at it, have loads of training etc.

If people want to learn the best beginner Maya, Max training is done by 3dbuzz.com imo.
Look for the fundamental courses dvd. Also might be worth checking out digitaltutors.com for training.

Also if anyones interested theres a new blender for dummies book coming out in February.
