The real italian job

A car thats completed the rally is worth a lot more it would seem. Only way to make his money back is finishing that rally in that car :/. At least the initial outlay of the car is done with lol.. But will they let him back in next year? If im being honest id get shot of the girl friend and have his co-driver in a heart beat.

Cant belive he blew the thing up idiot. Co driver should have driven least she knows what she is doing.

Yeah for those wondering what on earth everyone is talking about this was on BBC2 and you can catch it up on BBCi player.

What a fool this guy is, and when the commentator said James will have some harsh words for the guy who rebuilt the engine, why should he, it was his own stupid fault by revving it so high.

Ye it is him.

Anyone find out what the actual engine specs are?

4500 does sound abit high for that age of car *shrug*

and anyway, how do *you* know that whatever broke is cos he revved it too high? 20 hand made valves or more in that thing, maybe one just died.

It had a complete rebuild before the rally. It hadn't been run in and he basically just rev'd the nuts off it all the time. Thus only getting something like 200 miles before it went wrong. His own fault.

Never realised someone relatively innocuous like James Martin was capable of generating so much hatred. What would you lot make of somebody like Hitler :p

I quite liked the guy on Saturday kitchen, but he came across as a bit of **** on this program.

Nice just watching the cars though

I've seen a rebuilt engine from these years blow up after 5 mins of idleing requiring another rebuild.

Its speculation what he did, maybe the peak RPM is 6k? We don't know.

Do remember he wasn't pushing at all because fear of buggering it. If he was me an that into car he'd know to keep the RPM down.
Although he did say he was mad at himself for pushing to hard too early. BUt then again maybe he didn't go above 3.5k.

Lets hope next year he will complete it, as now I want to do the race too LOL

This, he seemed a bit of an arrogant tool.

Loved the hawt co-driver writing on his car then not giving him the pen :D:D:D

the main guy came across as a complete **** to me. Hated him. Stupid arrogant tard.

Should have taken his wife as co driver, that other wench did naff all anyway apart from handing over a paper. She couldn't even diagnose the problem :/

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks he was a ****! Amazing how he is all likeable on his other show!

The whole programme was an anti-climax to be honest :p

It's on BBC HD now.

His speedo dial wasn't moving.

They said they'd made all spare parts for the car, bar Pistons, but obviously not.

I enjoyed it and would like to see a follow up on the state of the engine.

I hope he does it again next year and it is filmed again for the Beeb.

Saw this, really enjoyed watching it actually. Was amazed a fatty like him bagged a stunning girlfriend like her, really does show the influence money has with certain women as Im not so sure she was after his personality...

The cars were something else, I just cant imagine the sensation of driving £1million of Italian sportscar around Italy, always been a dream of mine to drive through Italy.

I can see that I'm in the minority here but to me he seemed like a perfectly decent bloke. Don't forget the guy was fulfiling a lifes ambition, in a car worth a ton of money, he was probably quite anxious about the whole thing, his gf/wife didn't seem hugely supportive and fancied tagging along for a bit of a holiday, the beeb were pushing cameras into every crevice and probably weren't giving him a minute to get his head straight..... Is there any wonder the guy seemed a bit twitchy :D
