EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

url:http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp... GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

or

a sparkle 9800 gt 1024 mb.( i will post its specs later)

i would like to know which is the best one of those two. or if any other evga vga(http://www.overclockers.co.uk/produ...&catid=56&sortby=nameAsc&subid=1009&mfrid=339). If i can get a better vga with a couple of more bucks i will get that.

im not realy an expert on vga's.but i was thinking of getting the 1024 mb evga, but a few people told me that i dont realy need the extra 512 mb since i got a small monitor.

so the questions are

1) is the sparkle 9800 gt(1024 mb) one better than the evga 9800 gtx+(512mb)?

2) is there any other evga graphics card better than the one i listed above that i can get for a few more bucks?

Thanks for your support.
cheers

Gary.

i was really looking forward to the 9800 tho :(. i have an ati radeon installed at the moment. and i been looking for swapping from ati to nvidia .

and you cant really argue with the 9800 gtx+ can you ?:O

so your saying the one i listed is the best from the evga's for its average price ? i was going to go for the bfg one but its out of stock.

cheers
gary

Yeah i know. Both seem good. my ati has served its time well and has given me very nice fps. so is there any other evga 9800 that i can get that smokes the ati ? :)

btw the HIS ATI Radeon HD 4850 IceQ 4 Turbo 512MB seems like a good gaming card :O

If you are looking for a NVIDIA card I would look to a GTX 200 series.

Otherwise my advice is to stick to the RV770....the HIS IceQ 4 is good as it has a decent cooler on it already, and if I recall correctly, has faster ram than the reference 4850 which allows it to clock to around 1200mhz where the reference 4850 would do 1100-1150.

Yeah, if you're desperate for Nvidia, go with a GTX260 because you won't find a 9800GTX+ with enough performance that's worth the extra cash.

192 core 260s are quite cheap if you can find them now; maybe £150 second hand. One of those is a fair bit faster than either the 4850 or the 9800GTX+. Or you could raise your budget to £200, and get a 216 core 260 :)

heh the nvidia x200 are a bit pricey. so, i got no luck with the 9800?

i tought it was the best card for the nvidia these days. ( not including the 10 series)

Get a 9800GTX+ if you want mate, but it's more expensive than the comparable Radeon card. That's basically it really.

Yeah i know. im just looking for performance at the moment. i got bout 400 euros looking to buy a cpu and a vedio card. my mates been telling me that 9800gtx+ is a well performing with no cooling problems. and easy to OC.

On the other hand the ati hd 4850 seems cheeper. im not really bothered about spending a few bucks more to getting the nvidia. im a 16 year old kid looking for a gaming vga.

so reflux the 9800 gtx+ 512 mb is a no go ?:O

Anandtech review of 4850 vs 9800gtx+:

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3340

Conclusion:
"he Radeon HD 4850 continues to be a better buy than NVIDIA's GeForce 9800 GTX, even if both are priced at $199. The overclocked, 55nm 9800 GTX+ manages to barely outperform the 4850 in a few titles, but loses by a larger margin in others, so for the most part it isn't competitive enough to justify the extra $30. The 4850 also uses significantly less power than the 9800 GTX+"

Go for the cheaper 4850 - the HIS one already has a great cooler, which will possibly allow for a nice overclock too, and it's quiet! :)

yeah i guess ati has the better card.i think il go for the ati 4850 then.it already has a prebuild cooler.and i might even get somone to Oc it for me :).im not realy worried bout money at this stage.

the ati 4850 then wins hands down the 9800gtx+ with performance? Because thats the only thing im looking for xD

thans for your quick replies and support mate :)

(the only thing im worried bout that its not pre-OC)

the 4850 is OC ?(it doesnt say that it is in the webiste :O)

so correct me if im wrong. but a 4850 OC CARD is better than a 9800 gtx+(not oc)?

im getting the 4850 btw :D
