I thinking of getting KEF HTS2001.3 Center and 2 Rear Speakers to go with my 2 front standing IQ5SE's.
Also getting a BK Gemini Sub woofer.

Will this be OK?
Are the Kefs up to the job of being my center and rears or should i look at others?

Center = £88.04
2x Rear = £176.09
Sub woofer = £200.00
Kef HTS3001 Stands for Rears = £107.61
QED Silver Anniversary XT Speaker Cable (16m)= £77.44
Sub woofer Lead = £10

Total = £659.18 :eek:

for rears, i would also consider the MA45's and MA90's, especially when you're spending £280 for the rears and stands. You may get better alternatives to your centre speaker too up to £100 but i know space is your issue (i've seen your pic of your setup, looks very nice)

Good choice of speaker cable, although i would spend a little more on a sub. either stretch to the BK XLS200 (which i would avoid unless you can audition one) or something like the MJ accoustics range.

I think im going to go with the XLS200 as everyone over at AVForums recommends it highly.

I think i may have solved the issue regarding the limitation of space for the Center speaker. I'm thinking of popping it behind and just above the TV. Will this be OK?

I've done the measurements and even a KEF egg will not fit :( damn htpc takes up too much space.

could you not part the electronics slightly and put it in the middle under the TV? Above would work though.

Your lounge looks identical to mine! I tried putting the AV stuff in the bay but wasn't happy with where the safa's and stuff had to go.

I tried that but the max gap i would gain is 26cm and the kef centre speaker is 30cm in length so it wouldnt fit. My damn HTPC is too wide and deep

And i cant for the life of me find a center speaker which is 26cm in length or smaller.

would it matter that they are "rears" and not centre speakers?

how do you mean? They would make great little rear speakers, but would also work as a centre (IIRC you have to buy them in singles anyway)

EDIT - Just realised what you said. Not really.....the 'egg' you were looking at is just a basic sat anyway. The only difference between these i've listed and a 'standard' centre is that they usually have 2 woofers.

ahh so rear speakers can be used as center speakers if you want to. The kef i was looking at was a dedicated center speaker

really....oh, i thought the eggs were all the same.

They can be used as a centre, but not ideal. Best thing is to visit a local shop and ask to take a couple home....you can see what they look and sound like then

ye thats the problem im having. I cant get a dedicated centre speaker in the gap and its not ideal using speakers which are meant to be used as rears (dont know why though).

I can get the monitor Audio R90HD for £150 and the shop sells them as a single but shall i?
