Whats UT3 like these days?

When is Jailbreak coming out for UT3??

I think the main part of UT2K4 was dodging, and that is the same in UT3 as far as I could tell, jumping just gets you plain killed unless you know what you are doing and are in the right place at the right time!

I have an X-Fi extreme music and dont have any problems using openal with it.

who knows thats just what people are assuming will happen. All thats been said officially is "we're working together on a major expansion to Unreal Tournament 3, that we expect will excite and grow our UT3 customer base" quoted from Mark Rein
 
ut3 has got better since it first come out. the new patches have fixed bugs up well and since the addition of the physics addons i have begun playing the game more often. no physics maps then i would not have bothered to play it.
 
UT3 can go to hell, totally ruined the franchise imo.

No players, terrible colours (brown grey brown GREY BROWN GREY BLOOM), no good modes..

I mean why try to merge onslaught and assault, and then end up making a **** gametype nobody plays. blahh

Even the "story" is meh, its just maps vs bots with some guy chatting on the loading screen. UT2004 didnt try to glamour up single player at least.

its only the x-fi cards with onboard ram that have a problem, correct me if im wrong but the extreme music doesnt have this?

As for ut3 in general its not bad, but the scene is nowhere near what ut1 was back in the day, or ut2k4 for that matter.

The game has the potential to be great but for me the biggest single problem is the ridiculously overpowered enforcer. Yes the gui sux but doesnt really matter too much once ingame (although without going into the config ini theres not many options a player can change, and for a new player i guess this is a big problem)

On the competive front its only really clanbase thats still going where the tdm eurocup has just finished with epsilon aka. sas (inc. me) defeating 4kings. You can also find cups for all other game types on there.

Hoping the expansion improves matters but for the moment ut1>ut3>ut2k4, in my eyes at least :)

Hopefully in time for the next MSUC, the code is looking solid, we're just nowhere near the amount of maps we want/need. Will be starting to push people again in the new year to get on with maps - including myself xD

I think you may be right about the Xram, that would explain it :)
The scene is never going to be as big as it was, the PC Gamer online player base is far more thinly spread over games now, things like WoW eating players, and then the convenience of Steam are hard to beat. If UT3 had full steam friends support I think it would help a lot.

Haven't found the enforcer overpowered personally, evidently I don't play enough!
 
Daaaamn, this thread I started really is actually tempting me to buy it again now!

Just I like Instagib allot more than normal mode although I do find normal D/M quite abit easier than UT2K4 and the original UT.

It is nothing like UT2004. UT2004 allows skilled movement techniques, UT3 is dumbed down crap designed to work with a console pad.

UT3 is rubbish - UT2004 is superior in every way, in terms of gameplay.
 
I bought the unreal deal pack on steam (even though I already own UT2004 + UT3) but this way I can play them more. UT2004 is without a doubt far superior due to the amount of content, Invasion mode, mods etc.

UT3 is a shiny console game, UT2004 is a gem of PC gaming.

Easier perhaps because it is so dumbed down and simplified.
 
So how many people are still playing UT2K4 and UT3?

I'd be up for a game sometime, might buy UT3 if there is a lot of interest, I got a headset for Christmas so got a mic for vent or anything too :D.

I still play ut2004 occasionally, i don't play it as much as i used to, but i still play it.

The Unreal Deal Pack is only £11.49, which is a good price for all the unreal games.

U2: The Awakening is not bad.
 
Personally I enjoyed Unreal 2 a lot but it has pretty mediocre reviews so you might not be too impressed. I thought it was great though.
