***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Still undecided on buying this :s

Buy it. It's incredible amounts of fun and you'll get hours upon hours from it. I bought it when it was £33 and I'm absolutely happy with paying that much for it. It's only £20 on steam now so you really can't go wrong :)

I got the custom maps working myself now.

Joined the server here:
fragM Vs_Custom 217.168.150.203:27019

And it seems to load up etc, just bear in mind you have to turn shaders to medium apparently, due to missing hdr shaders and the like.

Did you use the installer or just the rar file? I used the rar so I'd be interested to see people's experiences with the installer :)

Just the rar file I'm afraid, it's not exactly any harder I would have thought, other than you have to move the folder and its contents manually :p

I noticed you can't just extract the file directly into the appropriate folder though....You have to move the folder containing those files, then move the files into the maps folder manually.

Dunno why.

I used the installer simply because i didn't know about the RAR version. I found that the installer created a new folder called maps, after completing the installation, you now have 2 folders called maps and you have to copy/paste the files from the new maps folder to the old maps folder. I couldn't get it working and found it confusing having 2 maps folders within each other, hence why i said direct the installer to a new folder, then copy/paste the files to the maps folder. The link i posted is the same thing made by greyfox anyway so either way, you can't go wrong.

Indeed :)

I'll have a bash at both the maps tomorrow or something hopefully, don't really have the time now.

So how do I join the OcUK crew on L4D? I've joined the Steam group but can't figure out how to actually play with people from the community section.

You have to add people manually sadly, when the group was smaller you could just right click a name in the group sub-section in the friends list and join there, so go in the group, and add a few people that are online, chances are they will play with people in a friends only match from here, then add away :)

I dunno if this is right, but try adding c_delves at the moment, that should be me. (Opul)

And to clarify if anyone does know, what is your user name on steam? Is it the account name people add or what?

I just tried searching for [OcUK]Opul and Opul and it came up with two people that I don't think were you. It did say that you need to either enter the person's official steam account name or email address to find the right person.

Try the above mate, c_delves :)

Or, click on community in steam itself, then type Opul in the top right search bar, comes up with me straight away.

Think you can add people from account name, can also link your steam ID (see sig) or use the search tool

I managed to convince my cousin to get this game. Once it had finished downloading at 3am, we played all morning until midday lol.

Does anyone know the best way to handle the Tanks? Just blast them to death, and try not back yourself into an ackward situation? I once backed myself into the stairway fire while fighting one in the Red North line tunnel lol :p

Received my Razer DeathAdder today as well and it makes the gameplay so much better.

[OcUK] .kiet
