What company is next to go bust?

God I hate the Telegraph's website, can you post the text of the article as my browser wont load the article

The 58-store chain will this afternoon appoint accountancy firm PKF to handle the administration after being hit by the consumer downturn.

In a controversial move, Sir Tom's investment vehicle West Coast Capital will immediately buy 43 of the shops out of administration.

The so-called pre-pack administration will save the jobs of up to 1,000 of USC's 1,400 staff but 15 of the stores will close with the loss of about 300 part-time employees.

The pre-pack is likely to provoke anger among USC's suppliers or landlords, some of whom could face unpaid bills following the administration.

USC becomes the latest retailer to succumb to the economic downturn following the collapse of Whittards, the tea and coffee retailer, menwear chain The Officers Club, and Zavvi, the music chain.

Adams, the childrenswear retailer, is set to appoint PricewaterhouseCoopers as administrators this week.

USC, which was launched in 1989 from one store in Edinburgh, stocks brands including Diesel, Henri Lloyd, Ted Baker and Lacoste.

Thanks Chaos, suppose that doesn't sound too bad job loss wise. Surprised they've gone as I've never had a problem with USC, quite like them actually :(

I think DSGi maybe in trouble due to Best Buy coming to the UK. Although, saying that Best Buy are looking at purchasing the owner of Comet or even DSGi themselves.

I've heard this too about DSG, but i won't beleive it till i see it. Saying that, half of their brands have gone in the last few years so it could be a possibility.

Other than the two that started this fall I haven't even heard of the other chains that are going down (or thought they went bust years ago). Coincidence? Probably not.

I do wonder how long the government will allow the administration then buyback that is going on at the moment. The officers club, a local store near me and that other one just named have all done it and I believe it is wrong (and it seems a large proportion of the industry do to.

How's Pizza Hut doing? I understand they're undergoing a name change to Pasta Hut. Is this an attempt to boost revenue? (Obviously it is, but are they in a dire situation?)

A few weeks ago my dad said Jonathan James shoe shops where in trouble, his work (a big accountancy firm) are also having to take loses on jobs to keep the money coming in.
