I rang Sky and they offered me SKY HD+ for £49 with a £15 installation Fee.

I missed the half price offer of 6month subscription that expired on the 28th:(

Does anyone have it?

Whats it like?

We have Sky + HD and Sky + HD Multiroom, really like it, the picture quality isn't as jaw dropping obviously as Bluray but football on HD looks great.

Would definately do it, will be good for your cinema room!

Thats what I'm thinking :p

Is the IQ really good?

It's definately noticeable, especially on LCDs. The killer app for me on it is sports, footie and tennis. Movies look ok, depends on how well a job they've done on the compression etc, general broadcasting (eg BBC, C4 etc) HD content looks good too.

It's something my g/f notices and she has no idea what HD is etc... :)

I saw it in action at my parents' house yesterday and also ordered it yesterday :) I wouldn't say I was amazed by it, but it was good. To be honest I think the HD channel selection is pretty poor right now but there is some good stuff there.

Main reason I went for it is because I wanted the Sky+ features and the HD box worked out the same price as a Sky+ box anyway. The extra tenner a month subscription is a non-issue really.

I can see myself getting bored with the limited HD channel selection so most of my TV watching time will inevitably be spent watching normal channels. Still, it's worth doing as the HD selection can only get better.

it was the same price as Sky+ when i ordered it last year, so it was a no brainer for me. I find i have to ensure i reboot the box once in a while otherwise it will miss the odd recording, but i understand thats a common "feature".

My dad recently upgraded his too, as after he went and bought a dirty great big LCD tv, he noticed that football looked rubbish in SD (lots of noise surrounding the high contrast of player against pitch). It now looks great in HD.

Had mine about a month now and for me it is worth an extra £10 a month. Also, many of my normal channels look better through the HDMI connection than they did before through scart, or whatever it was.
Hopefully more channels will be added as time goes on.

The sports is the best part of it IMO.

I wouldn't bother though if you're not a Sports fan, at least until they expand the channel list a bit.

Same deal I got, £49+£15 install.

I have all channels except sports. I find myself just looking through the hd channels now instead of sd channels 90% of the time. It's worth the £10 to me just for the wildlife and Geo channels.

need to get myself a box before the F1 season starts up as they are broadcasting that in HD :D, might add the sky hd channels later on but for now just gonna get a box and install it myself.

They are ?, where did you read that ?

Ive had SkyHD from the first day it came out (literally the first day), we dont have Sky Sports but I think its well worth it for Sky Movies although the PQ isnt as good as a Blu-Ray.
I also like stuff like Stargate Atlantis, 24, Lost, Heroes, BattleStar Galactica etc etc all in HD on various channels.
Some stuff can still be very poor even though its in HD, I was watching Burn Notice on FXHD the other day and was amazed at how bad some on the PQ actually was but on the whole im pretty happy with SkyHD even at the price I paid ..... so long ago I cant even remember how much it was ...bet the wife can though :)

HOW HOW HOW ?

How did you get this deal, I remember there being a £75 HD box + £30 installation offer before xmas, but this is excellent. Parents have the full package, SKY+ and normal box in another room and have never rung up to barter etc.

This might push my dad to get sky HD as my Kuro will be put in the 'kids' lounge when i move back and he could then have sky + box

:D

Yes, tell us how you went about getting this deal. Did you ring about something else and they offered this out of the blue, was it advertised somewhere etc? I've just got my first HD tv and will be upgrading to sky hd at some point.

I'm working on them giving me 6months at half price. I reckon they will crack! :p

I have missed the 28th DEC deadline :(

My smilies look baldy without their hats on :p
