Well skiers I'm off to Whistler tomorrow for for 12 days of fun. The snow has arrived and although it hasn't been as heavy as Europe it's looking pretty good.

I've managed to get in 10 full days of European skiing so far and am now very comfortable with red runs. Amazing really to think I only started last year.

We have 6 days of private tuition in Whistler - 1 day on then 1 on our own - and the objective is to progress in technique to the next level. That and skiing a few black runs.

Wish me luck - I'll post a few reports whilst I'm there :)

Wish I had enough leave to squeeze in skiing as well this year. Private tuition definitely the way to go, you'll progress loads. If you can do reds in Europe, you should be able to do some blacks in Canada already, they tend to be easier.
I heard that. They do have 2 types of black though - 1 and 2 diamond.

The majority of the double black diamonds on Whistler can only really be done on a powder day, and even then as long as you are among the first few there.

A good deal of the chutes are trecherous ice and rock at any other time.

If you do get some freshies and your instructor gets you on the powder, get in the que for Spanky's Ladder on Blackcomb, there are some great blacks and doubles in all the jewel bowls over there.
