January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

Like most Arsenal fans all we hear from Wenger is how great this current team of youngsters are and that they are going to dominate the Premiership.

Personally I think that he has become too narrow minded and obsessed with this thought.

Please buy some players in the January and finally admit that they arent going to win anything with this team. I think if he got in a few players it would lift the team and get more out of these `world beaters`

Here is hoping!

Id love to know where Manchester City are with these 90million Ronaldo and Torres offers we heard them speaking about for the January Transfer. they haven't exactly gone out and raided the banks with crazy offers. i expected them to do what they did on the last day of the Transfer window before n throw ludicrious money offers at everyone like villa and robinho. they managed to get one of them haha.

He's said he wants to sign a couple of players though, and he can hardly say these current players are crap. It wouldn't do anything for their confidence or resale value!

Tevez Issues Utd warning

Reported on a few of the main sites. It's about time Utd got this issue sorted. Gill is fast making a fool of himself to the Utd fans. On the eve of the Champions League Final he claimed that there would be 3 or 4 new signings last summer, as it wore on it went to 2 and we were left with Berbs at the last minute. The same with Tevez. Supposedley would be sorted at the back end of last season, then as soon as the transfer window closed last summer.

I really hope we do retain him because a fully match fit Tevez does really add something extra to our squad. I don't think Ronaldo would have come anywhere near his goal tally of last season if it wasn't for Carlito's efforts.

Portsmouth have accepted a bid for Defoe and he's going to have a medical at Spurs today.

Might be worth putting money on Portmsouth to get relegated while you can still get decent odds.

Fulham target Carlos Kameni is close to leaving Espanyol after clashing with a fan of the Spanish side and the keeper could be signed for £3m. (Daily Star)

Would be a great signing for us, we've been linked with another keeper too.

Fulham midfielder Leon Andreasen is set to leave the club to return to Germany, with Hannover favourites to seal a £2m transfer. (The Sun)

Hope he stays, very good player, and if its £2m, taking a £500k loss already :(

Some good rumours about who Fulham are trying to sign, James Beattie would be a good McBride replacement, and rotation for Bobby.

If the money is over inflated and stupidly high then I think Boro should bite any teams hand off for Downing, Johnson is a better player imho and his heart is actually at the Boro. I would think Boro would accept a £15 million offer tbh, Is he worth that ? Hell no, ability wise i would say he sits in the £6-£8m bracket but its not about ability in the Jan transfer its about who's stupid enough to buy him for a massive price simply because he's English and a left winger.

If he leaves at least we can have 11 men on the pitch every week rather than not knowing if one of them are going to show up, Ironically its that one that's bleating on about the club showing commitment and ambition, where's his been since August ?

Show us the money....

Great news, but have we bought another player who is cup tied in both the Uefa and Carling cup? I'm pretty sure he didn't play the FA cup so he's ok for that.

"Scott Parker £100,000 a week" for an injury prone average player, who makes this **** up,

he's already on 70/80k a week due to Chelsea bumping his wage up so much and West Ham needing to beat it to persaude him to not rot on the bench eating up huge wages at Chelsea. Its not like they can't afford it is it.

spurs are all over the transfer news again

i dunno if getting defoe back was a good idea or not, i know we need another striker and i do like defoe just dont think he'll be enough for what we need. i know he was being held back at spurs and didnt get a real chance but hes now had that at portsmouth and has not done as well as i'd like. I would have prefered if we had re-signed keane or berbatov

Apparently Portsmouth still owe Spurs around £9mil for various players (including Mendes!). Add in the £4mil sell-on clause and it looks like Spurs will only be spending £2mil as the the other debts get written off.

Still don't rate him as a player though. And how exactly does he fit into this team that Redknapp is allegedly building around Modric? Out on the wing in a 4-5-1? Doesn't seem likely.

To be fair its not the club's fault if a few players turn them down/clubs refuse to sell

Also bare in mind that by the CL Final the economic downturn wasnt that evident - but by August time it was already starting

Tevez last season was immense no question about it, Im just not sure he has shown £26m (or anything like) this season. This is the reported balance that Utd owe to sign him permanently. There is the valid arguement that for a few months he hasnt had a long run of games (I think the longest run was from the Blackburn CC game - 1st in the run - thru the Villa game and a couple more after) and to be honest apart from the Blackburn game the whole team was pretty dreadful

I know two years ago we agreed to the £26m, and right now Berba hasnt shown anything like his transfer fee either, but if we could get Tevez for between £15-20m now it would be easier to swallow.

The other question is come the summer - if we buy Tevez and and no-one else (because cash will be tight - especially considering the Serbs we just signed) will the squad be good enough next year?

Giggs hinting at retiring - a good thing maybe but his experience on the field as a sub is still worth having imo
Hargreaves - who knows how the double operation will turn out, but certainly a big miss this season so far
Fletcher - reasonable but we should be able to attract better
Park - Questionable to say the least (can have great games, but majority he disappears/is very wasteful)
Carrick - wish we had two of him, so we could play him in every game!!
Scholes - brilliant on his day, but they are gettting further and further inbetween
Nani - worth another few seasons, and with competition from the Serb they should both improve

Welbeck (and by next season Cambell) no where near the finished article(s) by any means but surely should be integrated into the squad and at least be given regular CC /FA Cup early rounds games and a few EPL to see what they can do for us

Without even considering the defence - JE is reasonable, but maybe we need more/better cover for Rio and Vidic - and Full back positions should be reasonably covered with Da Silva's and Brown/Evra

Admittedly Im not allowing for any potential winnings from this season - but better not to allow for any such funds

sorry for the rant - Im just not sure Tevez is definitely worth what we agreed nearly 2 years ago, when midfield esp needs to be cleared out and better players bought in (if we can afford both then great - Im just not sure we can)

Parker signed from Newcastle not Chelsea. :p

Edit- The smilies look weird and bald now without Xmas hats, don't like!

Why the hell would we want to buy another keeper if Given does go? Harper is more than capable of taking over and we can put Forster on the bench. It's better defenders we need more than anything. :(
