Windows XP -> Windows 7?

Sorry if its been discussed to death, I'm just geniunely curious

I know how Vista is said to be hated, but are any XP users going to take the plunge to Windows 7 when its fully released? (not counting the beta)
 
Just bought Vista x64 for my new rig and so I wont be buying Windows 7 until it offers up something that requires I make the jump.

From my understanding Windows 7 is Vista with a new interface and some tweaks and optimisations.

The only reason most people never made the jump to Vista was due to it being released at a point where it did not meet the hardware requirements currently available for it and hardware manufacturers desperately pimping their hardware as Vista compliant when it would not see any benefit and in most cases saw a hit instead.

If I had not been forced to upgrade then I would definitely have held off until Windows 7 was released and I expect a lot of people are holding off upgrades for this reason.
 
Depends on the cost and the licensing terms. If it's the same as Vista then probably not. Unfortunately I doubt it will change.

I could not see my self going back to XP after trying Windows 7, although its the same story with Vista x64 I would choose both Vista x64 and Windows 7 over XP on my main machine :).
 
atm i dual boot between vista and xp ....im hoping it will replace vista.
but will test it for a month or so before i make any permanant changes
 
I'll definitly be giving Windows 7 a try, but I'll be totally skipping Vista altogether since Windows 7 will essencially be Vista, only better in every way. I reckon anyone who stays with Vista, once Windows 7 is out, will only be shooting themselves in the foot.

Have been using Vista for ages now, am still dual booted with XP but haven't actually loade dit up in months.
Will try windows 7 soon and will probs be among the first to make the switch, i'm a sucker for a new OS.
 
do you think that people who have shalled out lots of cash on vista will spend again so soon??

Being an XP user i will pay for 7 if its substantially better than XP - specifically for gaming.

And just to ruin your theory... I hate windows 7 (build 7000 anyway). It is foul to use, the continuity between control panel applets is farcical, its geared towards end users being mentally retarded, and it just feels like a toy rather than a serious work tool. At the moment, Vista appears to be better suited overall.

I just hope they fix it before RC1.
