TEC Cooled Memory Becomes Reality

Why did no-one tell me about this TEC stuff ??
Clearly I'm not of the right generation! How much does that stuff cost anyway?

TECs were used back in the 90s when CPUs didnt produce much heat. they had performance limitations as they needed more power to increase the cooling but more power meant more heat. so you would reach a point where theres more heat being added than is being removed so as CPUs produced more heat the less affective TECS became.

there was also the problem of people cooking their CPU as TECs move heat from the cold side to the hot side, so if it was put upside down heat was dumped directly onto the CPU LoL

Pointless. Those things are quite expensive and use lots of power - which you could overlook if it was going to raise performance a lot, but which system is bottlenecked by triple-channel 2000Mhz memory?

Keep in mind this is not something designed for a mom and pop email and web surfing computer. We strive to make the fastest memory in the world and this is something made to keep it cool when pushing a system to the absolute limit.

90s is a bit early isn't it, i'd say Athlon XPs were the heyday of the TEC :)
