Stop the War coalition along with other have organised a protest march for this weekend:

Demonstrate Saturday 10 January: Stop the Massacre : Israel Out of Gaza

Assemble 12.30pm Speakers Corner, Hyde Park

March to Israeli Embassy, Kensington High Street, London W8

760 dead, 3000 injured. Food running out, no electricity for one million people, no water for 750,000. The town of Rafah raised to the ground. You can make a difference. Join the demonstration and add your voice to the millions around the world who say this barbarism must stop.

Israeli terrorism?

Don't you mean palestinian terrorism ?

From my point of view they're both at it, but Israel isn't exactly helping matters by blockading, bombarding and victimising the inhabitants of Gaza. They're encouraging extremism and have been for decades by their own actions. Extremism (which is the cause of suicide bombings and the rockets being fired into Israel) is bred in poverty and oppressed areas - which is exactly what the Israeli's have created in Gaza.

does anybody march when hamas kills people? but then again a few dead jews..who cares..its ok as they are really accidental deaths, just bad luck when a random missile lands on your house..those jolly hamas blokes are only only getting a few lucky shots in

I think this is a great idea, and I am strongly opposed to Israel's attacks on Gaza. However, I do have a couple of questions:

(a) Are we going to see people waving signs which say "Death to the enemies of Islam" and "Behead those who insult Islam", etc.? Because that was a pretty dumb idea the first time around, since it told us all what you're really thinking.

(b) Will the protest equally condemn Hamas attacks and protest against the rockets fired on Israeli civilians?

I only attend peace marches.

I would really be willing to attend a march hoping for peace in the region not complaining about agression from 1 of the two sides only.

What who's thinking? Crass generalisations do nothing good for you and make you look quite narrow minded.

*edit* Please don't turn this into a discussion on the attacks, there is already a thread in GD and SC.

i wish there was a pro-war demonstation next to the anti-war protest..

dont do it, i cycle past speakers corner, and there will then be police everywhere, id have to go around!

What who's thinking?

A sizeable proportion of the Muslim population. Perhaps yourself included... who knows?

Crass generalisations do nothing good for you and make you look quite narrow minded.

In other words, we have no assurance that this isn't going to be a repeat of the Muslim hate speech and incitement to violence & murder that we saw on a previous occasion.

Answer the question: will the protest equally condemn Hamas attacks and protest against the rockets fired on Israeli civilians?

If the protest does not call for a unilateral ceasefire and condem the violence from both parties, I must question its morality.

Both parties are terrorists.

(a) Are we going to see people waving signs which say "Death to the enemies of Islam" and "Behead those who insult Islam", etc.? Because that was a pretty dumb idea the first time around, since it told us all what you're really thinking.
They were faked.

I've been to a couple of demonstrations at the Israeli embassy so far unfortunately I can't make this one - but a handful of my friends are going so at least I'll be represented in spirit.

Yer ok, let's also do one against hamas lobbing rockets over as well shall we.They elected hamas in so let them drink from their self filled cup.

I hope that white-middle class family dress their baby up as a terrorist again, like they did for the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict, and make it hold the slogan "Today we are all Hamas". Best propaganda the Israeli's ever got.

sadly it's not as black and white as that timmy. However both sides have to really learn to live with each other "condoning" violence in any form however oppressed people are is not the way to go.

The UK knows this 1st hand with Northern Ireland.

Talking is alway the way to resolve this. Huge peace marches would work better than complaining about one side only.

Still it is the right of people to demonstrate as they see fit. The benefit of living in a democratic country.
