What RPM doing 60, 70 and 80 on a motorway?

Yes I get what it means but don't see the significance to a thread about rpm at 60/70/80mph.is like me saying 135mph at 7600rpm in 4th,doesn't have any bearing on the thread

absolutely, they asked for the revs in 5th.

ive no idea of the engine revs at 70mph in 5th in mine, but from my other post you can roughly work it out yourself

Sorry,am viewing on iPhone so don't see the sig pics very well.was gonna say that gearing is ok if have 10k revs to play with.shows how long geared my m3 is,would be doing 137.5mph in 6th at 5k.what's the mph/1000 in 6th for an s2000?I ask because a lad I know says he got 175mph out of his without removing the limited or changing the gearing.I know he is lying because it's a standard car!lol

This one hits 281 kph (175mph). No idea on the spec but I assume standard gearbox.

Not sure on RPM/1000, think its about 18.

The variation is just too much - the speedo or tacho have to be completely broken to be able to read those figures. For those to be real it would have to be so inaccurate it's, like, twice the legal limit

Ford Focus 2ltr Petrol, sits at a little over 3k rpm at 70, I think.

Yeah for 175mph either he raised the limiter to 9800rpm or more or it's running bigger rubber.mine is theoretically geared for 209mph in top so atleast I know when the supercharger eventually goes on I won't be running out of gears in a hurry
