AFAIK it (the forum or shop) isn't hosted in house. They are in a datacentre somewhere (which is the best solution unless OcUK wan't to pay extortionate amounts for a 100mb bearer lease line).

Because people chat here they're more likely to buy from here. Other people/Google link to the forum and the customer base grows.

We host a forum/website not a dissimilar size to OcUK about modding PCs... I would think that the forums cost ~low 5 figures each year.

I think you are right, it must certainly generate more sales than it costs to run/host this website, how many threads do we see daily on the subject of "Spec me this please...."

imho a great piece of marketing by OcUK.
