just out of interest, where will all you avid naruto fans be watching from now on now that Dattebayo have closed their doors?

I love the Viz site and would like to watch from there but a) there is a region block and 2) the subs are apparently sub-standard (no pun intended)

Crunchyroll would be next up, but its pretty low quality and the paid subscription is getting a lot of flack due to the HD quality of the actual stream being nowhere near the "example HD" that is intended to entice you into the subscription...

dont mind paying, not one bit, but want to be watching the best quality (both visual and subtitle) that is available... so, where are you all gonna go to get your weekly naruto fix?

I kinda don't believe that you dont know but its an Anime series - one of the most popular in the world in fact and its just become properly licensed so the current subbing organisations have called it a day (and rightly so i guess)... there are a few places to see it through official routes and i'm asking which one people will be taking :)

Its like Pokemon in the sense that it's an animated series from Japan, however it is about 90% less cutesy.

This is pretty much illegal talk, Naruto is a licsenced series and thus downloading it via many of the websites mentioned in the op is breaking copywrite laws.

I don't mind you not believing, but don't fall into the trap of believing something is widely known just because you think it is awesome.

I have no interest in Anime so wouldn't have known. I've never even heard of it, not knowing anyone away from here that is into anime, and generally not bothering with threads about it.

I'm not all that into cartoons ;)

By 'become licensed' do you mean it was previously freely available and now you're getting it illegally?

This has all just changed, it is now being legally streamed for a subscription on the day of release then free 1 week later - nothing illegal about it anymore...

Sorry?
So because its one of the most popular in the world in its genre, we should all know about it?

Could you please tell me who is the most popular tiddlywinks player in the world? In that persons field they are the most popular, surely everyone everywhere will know about them?

:p

Really? Viz be doing this i assume? If so fair play to them; about time that an official anime subber did something 'new' as the nature of anime is just so far removed from normal TV shows.

Licensed as in picked up by a publisher and subtitled for the western market. Previously it would have obtained via torrents recorded from Japanese TV/DVD releases and subbed by fans, i.e. Fansubs.

Its often the way things go with new Anime series. When the two Ghost in the Shell series were fresh there wasnt a western release for a while so you could only obtain torrented fansubs, which were ultimately far better translations than the legal licensed releases.

ive never understood watching films with subtitles!
cartoons? that would be very annoying :/

Naruto is also on cartoon network, is quite well known.. Stopped watching it since they putting in fillers. anyway, with regards to getting the subs.. Veoh.com is always available...

Maybe watch films with english subtitles then? Mwhaha just kidding, opened yourself up there :). Well how else will you understand japanese if you don't speak it.

As for cartoons, well I don't watch naruto but I do like more mature anime, like Ghost in the Shell, for example.

I don't need things to be live-action to be entertained :p
