Easy's Home Cinema Film Choice opening night thread

IMO its got to be a film that you have never seen at a cinema.

2001 a space odyssey is therefore a no brainer.

That or Blade Runner :p

KING KONG is the current "KING" of video and audio quality on blu-ray. Not a great movie but it certainly show off your new home cinema set up.

I liked King Kong!

or Ratatouille on Blu-Ray. Why?

- AMAZING image quality
- Incredible sound

Totally agree. Wall-E fits into that category too.

Easy, why not have a double bill? :D Big action flick and a Pixar type film.

Pretty much agree with most people..

Transformers/Dark Knight/Iron Man/Kung Fu Panda are all pretty good for Demo purposes..

:)

Theres only one film for grand openings
Chronicals Of Riddick in HD (extended version)

If you want war movies however i rescently watched the Band Of Brothers box set, amazing :)

As good as Dark Knight, Wall-e and all the other usual suspects look, Kung Fu Pander is what I use to show off the home cinema/blu-ray to people to come round. The scene in Apocalypto where the first enter the Azetec/Mayan (?) city is what I use for film - breath taking.

It has to be cars! Its the first thing I watched on my tv with my surround. The sound of the engine reving at the start then the colours just made me shiver down my spine with joy and satisfaction! Just don't tell the girlfriend this!

Dark Knight as mentioned, however how about some alternatives:

- Blade Runner: Amazing how an old film can still look so good.
- Kill Bill Vol 1: The mix of colours through the film will give the system a good 'workout' see: the richness of the red in the blood, the deepness of the blacks on the Crazy 88's suits, the crispness of the falling snow at the end. The movie is a bit heavy on the bass though.

Wall-E
Iron man
2001: A Space Odyssey
Black Snake Moan
Blade Runner
The Matrix
Patton
Transformers
The Dark Knight
Queen Rock Montreal & Live Aid
Kill Bill:Volume 1 - Japanese cut is the best to be honest.

Not a film but the documentary Baraka restored at 8k so amazing picture quality.

it is great - but you really need a huge cinema like screen and projector because it is really meant to be seen on a grand scale. If you didnt get to see it at the cinema you should definetly add this to your blu ray collection. wish they re-release Koyaanitsqatsi, only have a VHS of that one. Anyway I think he is in process of making a new one which should be release within a the next year or so.

The Matrix.

This!!... for the 'Lobby Scene' alone!!...

Its my System tester, when ever I set up a 5.1 system for friends I stick it in and jump to this scene!!... followed by the Elevator Scene then the Helicopter Scene..

I'm soon to be getting it on Blu-ray along with all the gubbins to make it look and sound like its supposed to!!... :)
