I wasn't sure whether to put this here or in Graphics Cards, but this seemed the more logical choice.
I haven't seen a thread like this yet, if one has been made then I apologise.
I'm loving my Win7 beta - it's like Vista but prettier and more responsive, but the interesting thing for me was the WEI scores. I hit a bad base because I installed it on an old hard disk, but the other scores are fairly nice (7.0 on an E8400). What intrigues me the most is the Gaming Graphics score.
I was one of the people who bought a 4870X2 in August upon release - still very pleased with it today. Trying to keep away from fanboy debates, I was shocked by how low the gaming graphics score was. AFAIK, the only better combinations are SLi'd 280's, those brand spanking new 295's and a pair of crossfired X2's.
My 4870X2 hits a 6.3 on gaming graphics - a friend of mine here gets 6.2 on his SLi'd 8800's, but whenever I play with him on LAN or whatever I can see that my gaming performance is certainly noticeably better, and I run it at 1920x1200 compared to his 1680x1050 or whatever. At the very least, interesting! Does WEI depend on the screen resolution? (i.e, will I get a better score if I set the res to 1280x1024 and then run it?)
It made me think to ask those Windows 7 users out there, what scores are you getting and with what graphics cards? It would be nice to hear from you!
