I will be if possible, I really am looking forward to it. Not because he is the first black President, but because maybe it will actually give a little change to things. I don't cater to the notion there will be a massive difference with him in power, as in "everything is great now" within the first day, but perhaps it is a small (or hopefully large) step in the right direction.

*edit* I know he isn't black, (and is mixed race) but most people call him the "first black president" so was just using their wording if you will :p

everyones making a fuss about him because of his skin colour, surely it depends how good he is at the job?

Meh anyone would be better than Bush

I'll be watching it, but not because he's mixed race, but because he's an intelligent guy who may really change the US and possibly the world.

I can't imagine I will be. It is a) a ceremony that doesn't mean too much* beyond being a necessary part of the process to be president so is largely uninteresting to me and b) I'd prefer to wait and see how Obama performs although as MattandJet says he seems unlikely to be worse than Bush.

*His inauguration speech might be interesting but I'd not be surprised if it is largely along the lines of what we've heard before.

It's gotta be worth a watch, just to see if Bush says or does anything stupid in his departure ceremony, between him and dead-eye Dick there's bound to be some laughs.

I'll probably watch it, I've never seen an inauguration before.

Anyone else think that he's going to be such a huge target? even more so than Bush?

there was a thing on the BBC news site the other day about the high tech security that is going on.

nope, don't care, i doubt we'll notice a huge difference between the outgoing president and the incoming one and i feel no real connection to him, or to America so why bother.

I'm quite interested in hearing his speech. I'm hoping that he will be the catalyst to bring about change for the better across the whole world - everyone needs to be a bit more chilled like we were in the Clinton years. I'm interested in what he says he's going to do and how he's going to do it. A couple of years and we should have the measure of his success in putting his ideals into practice.
