A dishwasher!

i've never owned a dishwasher before but i've managed to narrow it down to two possibilities which appear to be the chalk and cheese of dishwashers

option 1 - Hotpoint fdd912p around £300 with 1 year full guarantee and 4 years parts

option 2 - Miele G1252SC around £600 with 5 year parts and labour.

i've been told hotpoint can be quite unreliable above the 5 year mark and Miele can work for 20 years or so without any issues

anyone else on here with any experience and advice.

(and yes i know my hands are free but i don't see why the wife gets to put the washing in a machine and i have to do the ******* dishes myself)

(and yes the other option is remove the washing machine and make the wife take the washing to the local river, the TRENT, and wash them there and that will make me feel better also!)

Get the cheapest one that matches your kitchen. Mine was an indesit one from makro for £189.99+VAT and has never had a problem in the 7 years weve had it.

Depends how long you plan to live in your property. I'd probably go for the Miele if you've got no plans to move.

My god I would love a dishwasher. I am fed up of ****ing scraping bits of dried muesli from a bowl that my GF has not rinsed before leaving it on the worktop to clean up. I don't know how many times I have told her to RINSE THINGS BEFORE LEAVING THEM FOR ME TO WASH!!

I have a continental Smeg model, bigger than the UK versions, excellent, but was costly. However bosch are excellent and reliable in my opinion.
Once used though you will NEVER look back.

Bosch have some good models, it's not an integrated dishwasher so when i move (if i move) it will be coming with me

i just want something reliable that is unlikely to break just after the warranty has expired and that cleans the dishes well.

funny you should mention the home theatre set up as if i get the more expensive one i have to do some more overtime before i can replace my surround sound!

You get what you pay for IMO. Our AEG triple AAA rated dishwasher has not missed a beat in the 12 years we have owned it.(bought ex display from a kitchen company for £190 - half price :))

My parents Bosch has been going without a single fault for 22 years.

I have learnt with kitchen appliances that quality costs but worth it in the long run.
