It's a necessary part of the system. Without it I won't be able to pay what I owe people for the drugs and alcohol I bought! :p

Yes, I am agreeing with you but there are those that don't and tend to be very vocal about it whenever the topic comes up ;)

When I was at college I got it mid Febuary iirc, never had to fill in any forms though so it may have changed.

hope you never get it

MWUAHAHAHAHAHA

p.s. i never got it so i am sure you will survive without for a few more weeks

EMA have really let me down.. I sent my app form off in June and rang this evening to chase it up as they keep forgetting about me and now they tell me to re-apply..

What a load of old cob!

IIRC I got mine at the end of January. This is thinking back 2 years now though! Mind, you only get it if your attendance has been good. Have you actually been told you're getting it?

99% of the EMA money goes on ipods, consoles, mobile phones and Lacoste clothes.

I see it everyday and the EMA does keep kids in college but most of them dont pass, in my class I am the only one to be not threatened with being kicked off the course and thats out of 13 people.

What is EMA and why didnt i get it when i was at college?

Your parents would be too rich, I'd be fairly confident in saying.

It's a set amount of money given to students each week if they attend all their lessons, if their families earn under 30k. It scales down depending on how much your parents earn, max is £30 a week.

I don't get it either, for reference.

Did your household earn over 30k a year?

So you are in college...assuming you are 16, parents are around 35-45.

If you live with both parents and both of them work, they must have pretty low down jobs in order to earn under 30k!! (combined)
How on earth to people in their 30s or 40s earn so little? Do they have no ambitions in life?

I never got EMA either. Instead, I spent all day both Sat and Sunday working, in an actual job, in order to have the same spending power as everyone else in my class who had no job.

Good system. A+.
