Watch brands? £100 - £150

Hi,

I've always had a fondness for watches however as I wear one every day they seem to get battered quite quickly and hence I don't usually spend too much on them. Either a quick £20 Argos job, or one picked up from holiday - In the past I've bought some from Turkey... I really wish they didn't have any branding on, as I don't care for the labels they attempt to imitate but the actual quality of the watches is ace - I got a winding with semi open back... Absolutely beautiful... (Shame that I don't dare wear it because I'm "ashamed" it'll look like I'm trying to have something I could never afford, when in fact it's the looks/mechanical working I prefer over the label).

I digress...

For my 21st birthday my parents have asked what I'd like and I thought it might be nice to get a good watch - Not an everyday wear but something to keep and wear occasionally. A functional keep-sake I guess!

I am fully aware that to real watch collectors my budget is miniscule however after speaking with my parents they were looking around the £100 - £150 range, which considering my past watches is quite something! To the extent I'm not sure what to be looking at - Of course I wont spend money for the sake of it but I'd like to know the options.

I gather I can either look for a "higher" end of a cheaper brand, or maybe it'd be enough for a "lower" end of a better brand?

The watch that has caught my attention most of all so far is Fossil Skeleton watch:

I'd really like to hear comments or suggestions regarding what is available for £100 - £150 price range - I know it's not a lot to play with, but it's enough to be disappointed if I buy the wrong thing! :)

Cheers.

I like the design of Fossil watches lots, nothing else in that price range to me is as 'different' in terms of style, while still being classy. Making no comment as to the quality of their watches here, although I have 3 Fossils now and they've all kept time just fine. I'd say that Skeleton model is a bit OTT for my tastes, and the comment about the hands is a fair one. I got this as an xmas present - not the best photo in the world but hopefully you get the idea. It's got a big face, so I guess you'd have to have reasonably chunky wrists for it to work, but there are obviously lots of alternatives - including one I remember with a semi-exposed movement at the bottom of the face

Last time I looked, shadestation had a lot of discounted Fossils, among others.

Edit: This I think is the one I saw with the movement showing.

Vary from £100 - £250 depending on what you want.

I have this which was pennies short of £150.

None of the internals for that price are going to be significantly better than any other, so just find one you like the looks of best and then find the best price for it :)
