Best FPS ever?

I used to think Solider of Fortune 2 could not be beaten for its simplicity, but I thin Halo has it for me now.

Seriously I think for me its gotta be Half Life 2 on consoles/PC.

Ok if its MP only then ill say Res 2 co-op mode (until KZ2 lol)

I suppose Goldeneye was an absolute class, multiplayer.

Really? How come? I played it a bit in single player and never bothered any further. I actually prefer 'realistic' warfare, but simply feel halo 3 has better gameplay.

Theres the problem. The single player is good, but multiplayer is soooo much better. Its just really fast paced and addictive. Can't really explain it cause you need to play it for yourself.

This is coming from me playing Halo 3 constantly online since release. Going back to it now, it feels so slow and clunky.

Hmmm, I'd like to say Halo, the story was so god dam epic and the graphics at the time were great. Multiplayer was also frigging awesome, oh the hours spent waiting in xbconnect for other players

Then probably Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64. Perfect Dark was awesome, too. The only other FPS I ever really got 'in to' for more than a week or so was UT2004, dunno why though, it's nothing special, just 'does it' for me.

Edit: Just to note I've only really gotten back into FPS games recently, even then my attention's been a bit lapse on the subject.

Not sure about squad based games, but Quake 3 is the deathmatch king. Hasn't been bettered yet.
