All about the maps, dm1/2/3/4/5/8 were all classics, you'll never see a better teamplay map over dm2. Why q2 aces q3, best duel'er in dm1, 4v4 in dm2 as said.

Single, hard to look beyond the original halflife, big impact, hl2 was just more of the same good stuff.

For me...

PC = Half-Life + CounterStrike 1.6
Console = COD4 + Multiplayer

Battlefield 2 & 2142 are both class games as well imo.

My favourite FPS would be Quake 3, especially Rocket Arena. Really do miss it. Followed by Counter Strike.

On a console it would be Halo 2/3 or COD4.

Original HalfLife. Nothing has come close to the feeling of awe I had when first playing through that game 10+ years ago

Best FPS recently has to be COD4 for the cinematics and the feeling of being there.

Multi-Player: Ghost Recon on the Xbox, none of this third person / Advanced Warfighter ****

The last console game to require real skill with no auto aim and a very steep learning curve.

Having to scout out positions with the binoculars then switching to your carbine for the kill, what a fantastic game, the clan competition was amazing too.

I should have put really it was only from a multiplayer perspective. But thats what I enjoy about FPS so thats it for me.

Single player would be COD4/5, Half Life 1/2 and Halo 1.
