CMD for Mac's?

Guys

Is there a mac equivalent on the command window?

Would like the ability to ping and check default gateways etc when doing some fault finding on a network..

Or is this impossible to do on a mac across a windows based network??
 
Use Network Utility?

Applications -> Utilities -> Network Utility.app

Or use the Terminal

Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.app
 
The OSX Terminal runs the bash shell by default, which means that it'll respond to most standard Unix-y commands, not Windows ones. It's extremely powerful and useful, especially if you add on to the existing CLI tools. I, for instance, use the mPlayer media encoder (mEncoder) all the time. Since it's scriptable I can easily set up my own batch jobs and go to bed.

The dudes in the Linux forum below can certainly offer help with it if you like. :)

EDIT: Oh yeah, one quick tip. The ping command will continue to run until you cancel it, unlike Windows. Hit ctrl c to stop pinging. ;)

I did mate but still couldn't find out which was best, so I thought I'd ask the guys in here for some help?
