Impatience running thin £1600 spec

£1,606 inc Vat

I don't know that much about mouse, keyboards or speakers so you want to get someone else to check them.

If your only running a 32bit OS you can only have 3.4gb of ram so that worked out well.

The 285 gtx is suppose to be overpriced for what it is and besides I couldn't fit one in the budget, that and a 260 will do everything you want it to do at full res.

Looks good to me unless anyone has any objections with that setup I shall order the parts when I get home today :)

Thanks for that Edward01

I'd of thought for that much money you'd be able to up that spec to 6gb ram and a better graphics card, sacrifice the speakers and buy them another time, and dont waste your money on that awful headset :p (no offense edward01)

Only other thing is the cooler, doesn't state 1366, not that ive checked but might want to look into that!

Personal opinion i guess but id suggest the steelseries ikari optical or a logitech MX518 over any razer crap anyway :)

EDIT: if your going to have surround sound etc i would also suggest an Asus xonar soundcard but that entirely depends on whether it fits in with your budget, onboard sound was awful on the P45 chipset so im not sure if its much better on the X58?

^^ I freely admited I know very little about speakers headset mouse etc :)

Yeh change the cooler to tuniq tower and buy the converter.

He cant use 6gb of ram cause he's only using 32bit, and cant get better gpu cause he wants all the periphals.

So if i do scrape the speakers, i guess i can use my old one temporarily for now what card would you then recommend.

Cheers guys ;)

Check in windows forum, but you maybe able to use vista 32bit serial code on a vista 64 dvd.

Otherwise you need to get 64bit. Assuring it is oem. If it's retail you can either borrow someones dvd or send of to microsft and it's about £6

So you think I should forget about 32bit and go for the 64bit OS:confused:

OK sounds good going 64bit, I probably then go for 6GB of Ram like mrbios recommended, how about the graphic card seems to be question marks on that??

Don't think I've forgotten anything.

However if you waited till the ocuk 280gtx card comes back in stock, that will save you £100. Which you could then use to upgrade case > monitor > cooling in that order. Or it would give you the funds to buy vista x64 (although I'm sure you can use your serial code but you need to check)..

Nothing wrong with that razer mouse at all :)

Like I said, personal opinion, personally I find razer mice to be tacky and poorly built equipment

I agree with acidhell's spec all minus the headset, definately a top notch system there (again i would probably drop the speakers and get some nice headphones + desk mic, headphones i find are far more immersive in gaming than any speakers setups, that said though i've never really had a decent surround sound setup so i could be wrong, but i wouldn't call gaming ones decent :p)

Regarding whether to go for i7, from the sounds of what you do (i.e. mainly gaming) I'd tend to say not worth it. However if you don't plan to upgrade for a good while then i'd say i7 to future proof yourself. So going with core i7 i'd recommend the following:

Intel Core i7 920
Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Intel X58
2x Corsair 3GB DDR3 XMS3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz (3x1GB) Triple Channel DDR3 (6Gb in total)
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI
Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM
Sony DDU-X10S Blu-Ray Reader Serial-ATA Drive
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Antec 902 Nine Hundred Two Ultimate Gaming Case - Black
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler
Thermalright LGA1366 Bolt-Thru-Kit
Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 120mm Fan - 3/4 Pin

Samsung SM2443BW 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM

All that comes to £1529 inc VAT and delivery.

Thus leaving £100, which is ample, for peripherals.

Actually, think I prefer this spec, modular PSU will be an advantage, and money not wasted on a BD-RW unit. Only thing is that the peripherals have been omitted and £100 put in, though you could get a G11 and MX518, then some cheap logitech 5.1 speakers for that maybe?

One gripe would be the case, not entirely to my taste, and a bit overpriced imo, but cases are more personal pref, since the cooling on that antec is fine.

If it's a retail or upgrade 32bit version of Vista then you can get a 64bit disk from Microsoft for the princely sum of £7.20 inc delivery.
