Stupid trim level names

Micra Wave has to be the best ever:p

I had a Meriva Enjoy once, somebody at VX was seriously taking the pee.

Acronyms are just as annoying. I drive a Focus LX. Which obviously stands for Luxurious eXecutive, or Luxury eXtra, or something.

Or maybe, Laughable eXcuse.

I thought you could use Sport or M Sport....just a matter of personal preference. Sport models still have M badges on the interior, is that right?

The French are good at these. Zest, and Fever, and Verve, and Independence, and other such rubbish :D Then you have the "designer" names like Quicksilver and Jasper Conran ;)

It's not personal preference - from about 2005 BMW renamed Sport to M Sport. Models prior to this are Sport, and after are M Sport. All genuine Sport and M Sport models have the same M badging etc etc - it purely was simply a name change on the brochures. Very bizarre.

A marketing change then...perhaps to attract more people to buy Sport models who didn't know that it meant having a car asthetically similar to an M-Series.

This thread reminds me of a couple of old Fiestas my aunt had, years and years ago. One was a 1.1 'Quartz' and then she got a 'Popular Plus' or something.

Vaux older ones;

S - Standard
Select - ??? Selected bits of random cars left over (guess but would make sense)
GLS - French for "Grand Luxe Super"
CD - French for "Corps Diplomatiq(ue?)"
CDX - French for "Corps Diplomatiq(ue?) extra"
MV6 - ???
Elite - Top of the range/elite version
SRi - Sports Rated Injection (IIRC)
SXi - Sports Extra Injection

Whilst we are on the subject of BMW.

M Sport.

Why? It's just Sport with M added to the name. There is no other difference.

I assume it was to emphasise the link to the BMW Motorsport department.

Target clientèle for the cheap crap at the bottom of the market. These people will go for things with stupid names, just as they will also go for many other cheap gimmick'y stuff like stereo's with thousands of flashing lights on them.

The buyer of a new Mercedes/BMW/Audi/Bentley etc is not going to appreciate a stupid name, and instead would rather one or two types of car with the rest of the stuff available as options.
Wow, talk about snobbery .

I hope your comment was tongue in cheek.
