I just have to try and figure out a way to take the day off work, with no annual leave left (and can't really take a sick day without consequences) so I need ideas!

Some of you might remember (unlikely) that I had an interview about 3/4 years ago to write for PC Zone/CVGs website as a news writer. I was very close, but alas, no cigar.

This time however, I've gotta nail it, I never really got over not getting the job last time

Quite different to what I'm doing now though..

As for telling them I'm going for a job interview, that passed my mind, but if they just say no, i'm screwed

If your work say no, or the company you're being interviewed by? If its your work, I thought you were legally entitled to go to interviews? I may be wrong, but I'm sure someone has said it before...

I work in a public sector agency that haemorrhages staff, they won't make any effort, but they will get the hump if i'm taking a day off for an interview.

Family death will be the easiest I guess.

I believe you can only get time of for interviews legally if you're being made redundant.

Tell them you need the day off, if they ask why tell them its to help a friend out, if they keep pushing tell them its personal and they shouldn't ask.

Just say you have commitments on that day and will be unable to attend work as it might over run and it may take all day. You will take day the day off as unpaid leave. Don't ask, tell them.

well, my parents reckons I should say I have to take my dad to hospital for the day (he has MS) so I might go with that
