It was the best lcd tv available under £4000 when I brought it back in 2006 and it cost me £3250 at the time, I got it on the same day I brought my first blu-ray player as it was one of the only tv's at the time to support full hd 1080p.
Sony KDL26S3000 - 26" but perfect size for the room it is in. If I tried to use the 42" in the living room I would never get a look-in due to the crap on TV my GF watches
Got a 42" Toshiba 42X3030D 1080p set in the lounge with a 360 and Sony BDP-350 Blu-Ray Player and a 40" 1080p Sony 40W4000 with my Xbox Elite in the spare room for Dad time.
The Sony has a better picture imo and looks fantastic with the 360; but the Toshiba still handles 24p and does more than a great job.
For me LCD tech offered better bang for bucks than Plasma with 1080p, 24p support and no worry of image retention. I'd definately recommend the Sony set.
I switched from a 37" Hannspree XV37 this week to the Sony Bravia KDL32V4000. the 37" just dwarfed my bedroom so switching made sense. I do play quite a bit on my 360, so it was a major factor for me when switching to make sure the TV got positive reviews for console gaming.
I got it because of its compatibility with a wide range of VGA/HMDI resolutions and its up scaling engine for SD content. The Samsung alternatives were horrendous for back light flicker at the time too.
Wouldn't recommend one at all now as there are far superior TVs out there.
