Thermal Compound

Hi i am getting some new Thermal Compound what would you recommend? The Zalman stuff looks really easy to apply but does it perform well?

The Noctua stuff is pretty good but the best is the arctic mx2 I believe.

Just looked at the MX2 do you really not have to spread it across the CPU?

i suppose you don't have to if it says don't, but you have to twist the heatsink and all that.

i always spread my thermal compound be it any make, using the sandwich bag method, i took from tjharlow on youtube. lol

i've always used MX2 paste, never had any trouble with it

Not a lot of people seem to mention the Noctua one although I've seen it come out on top in a few tests and even beats MX2. I used MX2 this time as the Noctua stuff is harder to apply evenly although it is very good.

mx2 would have been my recomendation anyway.

Personally use Arctic Silver 5 and would not hesitate to recomend it - assuming it is the cpu your cooling
