January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

I know Keane didn't really make an impact at Liverpool, partly down to his poor form at times, and Benitez's tinkering, but I've spent the last 10 minutes gathering these stats. Rafa really loves the Kuyt doesn't he! By the way, these are facchhttss. Real ones. :p

Mind I dont think Rafa is much better, too many duds amongst his signings, I certainly wouldnt want to give him complete control over the transfer (or any manager for that matter).

Rafa is a manager though, i.e. someone who is supposed to have more knowledge when it comes to the transfer market.

Levy wouldn't agree to any transfer unless he and Commoli (who made most of our dud signins as well as the odd gem) approved of it.

What exactly is your point? Are you comparing Keane and Kuyt?

If you are then it's not really a fair comparison. Kuyt's mainly played on the right where as (with the exception of around 30mins vs Villa) Keane's played either right up front or off a striker. There's then the fact that Kuyt's competing with Benayoun for a place in the side and where as Keane's competing with Torres and Gerrard.

A fairer comparison would be Voronin and Keane. In a similar amount of appearances (even though i'd imagine most of Voronin's were as a sub), Voronin scored more or less the same amount of goals and got more assists, and the general opinion was that he was ****.

I'm comparing them all Baz and how Benitez has managed them. I'm bored. Really bored.

edit: I'm talking about this season looking at your four top goalscorers.

yeah as long as spurs win the champions league for the next 3 years then i think liverpool might see their full 15million :) because if they were willing to accept such a low fee upfront then i think it's fair to say any add ons would be very favourable to tottenham.

Yes you are ;)

Because we accepted a low initial fee that means the add-ons will be less likely to be fulfilled

Surely you mean the opposite? As the initial fee's low, the add-ons are more likely to happen.

Whilst we desperately need someone who knows how to attack it seems as if it will really be just a loan deal until the end of the season, there's no mention of an option to buy so I think the club are sticking buy their promise of a new direction in the Summer, meaning that the very talented youngsters we currently have will be getting regular football.
He can't play for us in the CL either so that'll be another comp we're out of in the next couple of weeks.
Still, at least it means I might not have to suffer the frustration of watching Malouda too much for the rest of the season:)

Surely its more likely to be the other way round?

Im sure there's more to the deal than meets the eye, like what's happening with the payments remaining from the original deal, etc. I would imagine £12m is roughly what we've paid for Keane so far or near enough, making it pretty much a reversal of the original deal.

We should've returned him under the SOGA.

doesn't follow at all, the initial low fee suggests, as does common sense really that liverpool were very keen to sell. Spurs aren't crap negotiators, if they can see how much you've wanted to seel keane (and lets face it, who couldn't) then they've got the power at the negotiating table, just depends how much liverpool allowed themselves to get bent over in their negotiations. you should be ok though, after all i imagine parry handled the negotiating :). maybe i should send you a copy of the kidderminster kipper? seems it might be a bit more reliable than the echo :p

I wouldn't say Malouda is better than Quaresma, he is ridiculously overrated and frustratingly erratic. Nani is far, far better from what I've seen.
