Thatcher Barred

So you'd be perfectly OK if your boss sacked you because you could have stolen something? Not if you actually did, but if you could have.

Surely it could be for offending anyone working on the one show as opposed to the actual viewing public (which is why she can still work at the BBC)? It didn't get broadcast agreed, but the BBC is still a workplace with rules - clearly the fact that someone on the set reported it meant they were offended. Mark Stephens from the BBC explained this in an interview.

If I said any word remotely racy like that at work I would expect a warning or to lose my job.

I don't see how saying he looks like the Gollywog of the Robinsons jam jar is offencive as he does look like the old Gollywog.
I s'pose most Young'uns don't realise that Gollywogs were loved by children as much as Teddy bears before all this pc BS
There is Nothing offencive about being compared to a Cuddly toy, For ***** sake this crap boils my ****

Thinking about it I would say those who throw accusations of Racism about must be racist themselves as that is Obviously the way there minds work.
When I see a Black toy I don't see anything apart from a toy which is Brown/Black, How the Hell do they come up with "Offencive"

Contractor gets contract revoked in alleged racism shocker? Is it really a shocker? Most companies would take similar action if an employee or contractor described someone in a potentially offensive way and someone complained...

I really can't see why this is a story, freedom of speech is not freedom from consequence.

This.

It always makes me laugh when the Stoke on Trent brigade get their knickers in a twist. :D

It's all about context, saying someone looks similar to a golliwog is not the same as using the word golliwog to refer to them. If it was the first case only then it sounds like a massive over reaction. It may not be considered a nice comparison but I don't see the inherent racism in it.
