I always thought they used models... A4000's used to rule tho.

They moved to CGI in the later series I think, but the models were far better.

Indeed, bring back model shots. CGI wasn't toooo bad, but it definitely wasn't as good.

One time on Bad Influence, it was stated that A4000's (like several dozen) were used for the special effects, they couldn't use models any more because they blew up the actual red dwarf model at the end of season 5 I think.
