Just started downloading. The Marketplace web link gives me a unavailable xbox page.

I had to go to all games in the Marketplace on the console to find it, then start the download. (It is going quite fast at the moment).

Not very good at all :(. I suspected an RTS game on console would be crap, but thought that maybe they would make it good as it is designed for the 360 from the ground up :(

Will play the demo a bit more later but the 2 fundamental problems are not really fixable.

1) controls
2) low resolution (Used to playing RTS games and being able to see a lot more on screen at once).

I think the controls are fine

Very easy to use, not overly complicated like other RTS console games i.e. hold right trigger down to access sub-menu 3 whilst standing on your head.

It defeats the whole point of RTS games if you physically can't manage your army. Select all -> attack here is about as poor as it gets.

1- Yep, very poor. They're sluggish and hugely over simplified.
2- I feel it's more to do with the field of view rather than resolution.

1. Agreed. I played both the tutorials, and I would say "simplified" and "dumbed down" is my main points. I am sure I would adjust after a while but they feel too simple for an RTS (which is usually a bit more advanced, control wise).

2. I guess it is FOV as it is 3D. I suppose on a 2D RTS it would be lack of resolution? (i.e. the difference between playing the same RTS in 640*480 as opposed to 1024*768, is what I mean).

Even though I dislike it I am still gonna play the demo campaign map later. :)

Same here, I really liked the controls - really liked the demo.

Definate purchase for me

Lol, I actually prefer that. I hate it when games get too complicated, if Halo Wars is an RTS for the casual gamer then so be it :)

Just because it's simple doesn't make it poor, it just means that the game isn't for you.
