sorry guys, another dreamy thread!

I do understand and will be doing similar as I'll be getting my first RWD car in the next few weeks, and I really don't want to be hedging it. :p

I've been in a hedge once and learnt from it, been into the back of a van and learnt from that too. But as with a lot of young people, it took me till my first accident (6 months after passing, hedged the Renault) for me to properly realise I'm a plank. The second accident which was Jan 08 made me realised I was an idiot and got road rage too easily. I'm now much more chilled out when driving, don't get RR and also don't drive like a ****...I drive quickly but within my limits and the car's limits. This can take a while to realise with a lot of people (the limits of the car and the limits of yourself). :)

Well I am of the belief that I will be able to drive within my limits. But as you say all new drivers think that, so it's pointless me saying that. I am also very chilled out for the most part, sure I can get riled, but I don't think I'd suffer from RR, I don't know though of course.

That's life though! :)

Look dude. your threads from land rovers to spitfires are ridiculous.

The mini idea would prove to be seriously expensive too.

listen to what people say, buy a good reliable cheap barge, get your no claims up, and then move on.

stop getting ideas about piles of crap

A barge will cost too much to insure, I live in a high risk area, I won't get any premium much less than 3.5k on one.

It was 20 quid more expensive for me to insure my 2 litre injection Honda accord than it was for a 1 litre pile of poop corsa.

Its not just the engine sizes, its the fact that small hatches are more prone to theft, and are more prone to being crashed by muppets

You seem to think that this spitfire will cost next to nothing to run.

Its annoying because intelligent people would ask for some advice and maybe make 2 pages of replies max..

some helmet asks the same ******** questions for a few weeks and gets pages and pages of replies. yet absorbs nothing.

if it wasnt for entertainment, yantorsen would be permabanned, and not allowed to beg his way back in again

We've been here before with the Fiesta, it works out about the same but he thinks why waste that money insuring a crappy Fiesta when you can have a spitfire!

Fair enough. I'd have rather have had the Spitfire than a Fiesta, BUT I'd have gone with the Fiesta for a year or so, till I thought I'd be more sensible and capable of driving the Spitfire.

I also wouldn't run one as a main car due to reliability, I see them as cars you have because you love them and have for ages, not as a passing fancy, because they eat your money.

My brother's has been off the road more than it's been on in the time he's had it, and he's had it many many years.

What do you get on a boring little 1.0 Clio or something and what do you get on a spitfire?

spitfire £1700 on my own, and £1600 with my dad as a second driver, but he has already used his NCB on my mums car so I'm not sure you can use it on two cars.

Just doing a clio now...
Got £1889 with Insure Your Motor.

I know, I've done quotes for old lexuses and old mondeos and there all well over 3k premiums.

Try a mondeo, or an accord, or a citroen xzara.

The clio would be easier to drive, safer, cheaper put petrol in, wont break down as often and so on.

NCB doesn't have effect with second drivers anyway. :)

:/

I'm surprised at that, I'd have thought the Spitfire would be higher, mostly due to it being an older and more unsafe car...and easy to poke into other cars with and cause lots of damage to both. :p

The lexus doesn't surprise me. :p

god knows why an old mondeo would be over 3k premium.

infact, i dont really even believe it.

At the end of the day, its up to you, you clearly dont really care what people say here, so buy something, learn to drive and actually take some photos of it so we dont just think you are a pleb
