McDonald's I'm lovin it .. ??

If anyone has been to the state of California in the US, you see this message everywhere. Shops generally have it on their wall outside as well.

McDonald's is bad for you?:eek:

yes tis true

its true, but afaik it happens a lot more when using the cheap oil that fast food places use. It also happens more as the oil is reused over and over again, so fast food contains significantly more acrylamide than if you made it yourself at home.

"The FDA has not advised people to stop eating baked potatoes, fried potatoes or other foods which contain acrylamide."

Eh? So they want you to get cancer?

No, the FDA correctly recognise the actual level of risk...

Yeah, it's totally a result of all the lawsuits from people that claimed, "I had no idea!". Think back to the hot coffee spillage. They have to put warnings on everything now just so they can come back with, "We told you so."

That's what I assumed, but they're saying that it could cause cancer but you shouldn't care anyway...

Seems utterly pointless to me.

What they are saying is that it could cause cancer, but the actual likelyhood of it doing so is insignificant in normal consumption. Usually these sorts of warnings come from giving a mouse the equivilent of several kilos of the stuff in one go and then going 'oh, it got cancer', when the amount in foodstuffs can be measured in microscopic amounts barely worth considering.

As I was saying Trans-Fat. It can be used for a month rather than a few days with normal olive oil.
