This is sort of an artsy one. I was browsing through the artwork of Chris Garver (from the tattoo show) then came across this. Decided to try it as wallpaper and just thought it looks really good on desktop. And that it's in three sections sort of adds something. It's a painting, not a tattoo btw.

Is Stardock Fences actually useful? I might give it a go, but does it slow down startup as much as Vistas sidebar?

It doesn;t seem to slow down starup at all. I really do find it useful and it just works. People have been syaing that it doesn;t work over multiple monitors but I have a two screen pc and it's fine over both

Its a very impressive freeware app. I actually hate desktop icons but fences lets you toggle them on and off with a double click on the desktop.

Can't say I've seen any impact on performance either.

Cool, sounds good. Currently I just have all the programs I usually use pinned to my start menu, but Fences looks so cool so I'll give it a go

If you just want to pin a few frequent apps, then the free version of Object Dock might be more your thing. Looks good and the animations are something refreshing. But some icons might not look good in it so then you'd have to replace them with alternatives.

I don't know but I have a crap celeron with 1GB and Vista and it doesn't impact performance.

Just a query. I haven't applied any themes to vista but did so with xp a couple of years ago which just ended up causing instability.. I do like some of the themes available for vista but a little worried about installing them.. Anyone had any issues?
