6 weeks to go

Ah I was wondering what the progress was with this Spie as we hadn't heard in a while!
Hopefully will see it in the flesh one day, pics when you get it too!

was being slightly scarstic, however the profit margin on PC components must be pretty decent ;)
On average, in my experience, the margin isn't a lot. However, being as successful and downright popular as OcUK, turnover of those components is so great that the margins do turn out to be good. That, combined with some clever purchasers.

Can't wait for the pics.

Although should have specified a top of the range sound system, a BOSE system really is the pits :p

Spie, can you give us an insight into the purchase process of such a car?

  • Did you get to test drive another 599 or do they 'not do' test drives?
  • Did you have to pay a deposit or is it all up-front?
  • I am sure I once saw a program that showed all Ferrari buyers have to sign a special book, like a guestbook?
  • Did you get any treats, such as a driving day or freebies to keep you occupied until delivery day?
  • Did you try and haggle for free car mats? :D

599s are cool, but I still wouldn't wanna own one (and I love Ferrari)

430 is a nicer looking and better car imo

Yes, I drove two 599s from different dealers.
You certainly do have to pay a deposit. 10% minimum.
Nope, no signing of any book, not yet anyway.
Some wine, brochures and a magazine.

The process is no different from buying any £50K+ car to be honest. Except you tend to deal with a more senior member of staff and the Ferrari sales pitch is very "passion" orientated.

Apples and oranges.

The 430 is too small for me and I wanted a GT. The 599 really is an amazing car to drive and can be whatever you want it to be from motorway cruiser to snarling animal.

I would have had you down as a DB9 man.

DBS is the only car I ever want to own.

As such, it is most likely I will never own a car from now on. :)
