Since christmas I've been through these cards, the 285 hasn't arrived yet, but all I want to know is.... is it the EXACT same size as the 280??

As any longer and I don't think it will fit.

Both the 260 and the 280 only just fit.

It's a PNY 285 if that makes any difference at all.

Because I sold the 280 for £250 and bought the 285 for £145

DON'T you will not notice a worth while difference. Before I lucked out on this 285 I fully regretted sending my 260 ssc back to pay £30 extra for the 280, that's why I sold it.

So you are dissapointed with the gtx280.... so you sold it and could have bought whatever you want but you buy exactly the same card again only with a die shrink and slightly higher clocks ? Even though you think its "not worth it"?

I read it that Guru got his 285 for £145 not an extra £145??

Should be following your steps Guru (although not all) once my 260 gets confirmed dead by XFX with a new 285 :D
 
As far as im awear its same card really 280/285 just cheaper to manifacture. Correct me if im wrong but i think thats only diffrence.
 
If he thinks the 285 is rubbish htough why not just flog it for a profit now and get something else? I wouldnt keep a card that I thought was a waste of space...

Buy a new case, if your having trouble fitting a single GTX280 then you need a new one, my 5 year old lian li can fit two of them ffs.

Only differences are, they've shrunk the 280 and stuck it on a smaller process (55nm now instead of 65nm), got Rivatuner out and overclocked it (which is free), and then changed the 0 to a 5 so they can bang it back out at a much higher price, as its now become a higher series card, and they had to can the 280's, so no one could buy those instead of the 285's and do the overclock themselves. :)
