Selling WoW account?

I've seen a few people on here before mention that they've sold WoW accounts in the past. I was looking to sell mine, got a 80 mage and 71 hunter both Horde and an Ally rogue 70.

What's the best place to use that wont scam you? I know prices have gone down a lot so I don't really expect anymore than £50, although I'd be happy to let it go for that.

Cheers

As far as I am aware it is against EULA of most MMOs to sell accounts as they say that the property actually remains with the company. Therefore I think it is frowned upon to discuss on forums such as these simply because of that violation of the EULA.

Everyone still does it though. :/

It is illegal - and if sold the wow account *can* be banned.

If you really want to do it though google selling wow accounts tons of sites around most likely, not done it personally though.

So it's illegal or just against the rules? If caught I could actually be prosecuted? :p

Illegal as in against their terms and conditions (blizzards). I don't think you will be fined a 100,000 pounds or something :p

Just saying that they may ban the account of the person you sold it too, or whatever. I don't know much about it, never looked in to in truth.

They'd never find out if it was sold or not anyway, they wouldn't even know I was selling it in the first place.

At the end of the day, you cannot sell the account as it is against the terms and conditions. However people selling on the bay tend to market their auctions as selling "the time and effort" they have put into levelling the characters and gathering the epics.

Do decent accounts still fetch a high price nowadays? I mean its so much quicker and easier to lvl and get decent gear these days..

What normally happens is that the seller gets some good money for the account, only to find out a few days later the buyer wants a refund because the account just got shut down.

Not sure of a 'best place' that won't scam you. either way the account will probably end up shut down

Don't bother selling your account through one of these sites, often they take your money and your account. Leaving you with no account and the buyer with no money.

you're funding gold selling.

It's hardly worth buying a account, as you can easily get to max level and leveling can often be more fun then the actually end game content.

I wouldn't recommend selling your account.

Oh come on. STOP playing cute. No matter which way you cut it, you shouldn't be doing it, period.

That account doesn't belong to you. It belongs to Blizzard.

Sell that account and you're funding the gold sales industry. It's not against the law if you sell it (meaning it's highly likely no criminal charges would be brought against you because software IP is still woefully misunderstood by the law), but you are in violation of the EULA. You agree to abide by the EULA whenever you play and it states all intellectual property belongs to Blizzard. That means gold, characters, items, everything.

Every time somone sells their account, that's another squeeze the gold sales industry puts on the games industry. Freakin pees me off no end.

How does account selling fund gold farmers? Only times I've sold is on ebay so it goes to another person, and the characters I've sold I know are all still active so they're not in some group of farmers or whatever.

I sold an account pre-tbc for over £800, I sold my decently geared DK last week for a quarter of that.

The best place is a private sale - A mate or a relative you know won't scam you.
Next best is somewhere reputable. Just google about and look for reviews of account auction sites - There are plenty about.
There was a thread on here a while back where a few people successfully sold their accounts on one particular site, might be worth searching.

Ignore the people giving you an earful. Selling your account isn't anywhere near as bad as WoW players and Blizzard would have you believe.

Yawn, he wants to make a bit of money, why cares about the eula, eula isn't a law. He has spend so much time and money on WoW, at least he can earn a little bit back this way.

Erm so? Sod Eula.
The rules of the forum say nothing about discussing breaking the eula.
No links or requests for "warez"
Providing or asking for information regarding "warez", "gamez" or any other software protected by copyright is forbidden. This includes discussion of 'chipped' or modified games consoles.

There have been no warez/games/software posted or requested and no discussions made about chipped consoles.

I sold a MC geared Hunter before TBC for about £200 on ebay.

I wanted to be rid of the game and concidering it stole my life and made me a social recluse I dont think £200 was adequate compensation tbh.

What he does with his accounts I don't really give a toss about. My comment to him was that community forums like this often frown on the discussion of the less acceptable practices of the gaming industry such as cracking, copying, selling accounts, etc.

Whether that is the case here I don't know but was just offering advice.
