But CoD is a simple, tried and tested formula, it works across all platforms. The cross platform issue doesn't really apply to CoD.

WRONG!

By nature of the fact that console controls will never ever ever be as accurate and direct as a keyboard and mouse, and that the target audience for console games is much different to PC gamers (read 'stupid, American and 7') any FPS that is designed for consoles will always be a dumbed down soft version of what it could have been should it have been a PC developed game.

FPS games havent been the same since UT was Halo-ised with 2003.

Well Id rather they take a little more time to make them. COD4 was great but the single player was ridiculously short, Id rather they take a year extra and make a proper length game.

Except COD 4 was released in Nov 2007 which was infinity wards last cod title so it will be 2 years not 1 when it's released in Q4 2009.

A part from the complete lack of recoil, real bullet damage and single shot weapons being about as a effective as sneezing somewhere in the general direction of the enemy, all due to controllers.

cod 4 with few extra tweeks like added aimbots , nice.

they come out every year in november here.

basically i cant wait to get 8 tubes on and marty with juggernaut its all tyhese console crappy games r worth. :D

It doesn't matter who is making them, there are still 1 a year. Id rather Infinity Ward just made them on there own instead of doing these mini cash in ones, stupid Activision :(

Didn't quite say that it was a flop mate.

I was purely commenting on my thoughts about the game. It is scripted, it is linear and i thought it was rubbish.

So i didn't like it.

Would much rather they took a little longer over them to give us some quality games (Valve anyone?), I thought COD4 was effin brilliant. The progression of the storyline and characters made that game something i genuinely wanted to carry on playing.

Yes it was scripted but it was very well scripted. The solo player part of it was short but it was very involving and it made you feel apart of the game.

The multiplayer although isnt to everyones tastes is a fantastic blast and graphically still looks great.

I never played COD UO, what made that better in your opinion?

Its a weird one for me really. The single player aspect for COD 4 is the same as COD & COD:UO, scripted and linear but with a relatively involving story.

I found that the MP side COD and COD:UO although arcadey they still had an element of simulation within. I found it took more skill to kill someone in those games rather than COD 4.

Without any trumpet blowing i did find it easy/easier to kill people on COD 4 MP. It just felt too arcadey for me.

Maybe its because i went from COD:UO (When in went quiet on servers) to Red Orchestra.

I found the simulation aspect of RO very rewarding. The fact that you had to work hard for a kill really brought it home for me.

I know that obviously loads of people love COD 4 etc (and quite rightly so in there own way). My downside is that im striving for a bit of realism without be anal. COD 2 onwards didn't do that for me.
