What do you think of it? Is it a bad idea for the driver as far as being distracted goes? I'd love a TV in my car (in the same way I'd like to read OcUK whilst motorway driving), but I would never want to be irresponsible.

Don't some cars have audio whilst the transmission is in drive, gear and then audio and visual when its in neutral?

The cars i have had with tv's have cut off over a set (very low) speed. hey can be hacked to work all the time but i am not sure thats a great idea.

Most films are terrible to just listen to (in my experience.)

TV series seem to be better. Radio seems to be even better.

Ive got a JVC DVD player in mine, I think Ive watched a film once on it, its just the novelty factor really.

Dab is the best thing ever in a car imo.

i think lexus goes one step further and prevents you from even fiddling with the satnav while on the move

the one we had in the e39 went blue over 5km/h, but like jez says, it's cool but not very useful :p
i only ever used it while waiting for something, like the eurotunnel, or someone..
never bothered to use it while driving as it was in belgium and 95% of channels are cable..

I have what is known as the "Columbus" or "RNS510" unit in my vRS.
This is capable of playing DVD's and also media from SD cards.
As soon as motion is detected the media cuts-out which is how it should be.

I've used it whilst waiting in the car for the wife.
It makes trips on Eurotunnel go faster, but it should never be a distraction to the driver.
