Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

The button layout doesn't look the greatest for SF4

We played a variety of games with the gamestick, including Frogger, Time Pilot, Astro Pop, Paper Boy, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, and SF2: Hyper Fighting. The MadCatz GameStick was successful in lending a retro edge to the classic games, but after a brief moment of gaming retrospection, we quickly realized that we were much better at the games when using a gamepad.

I'm really tempted to get this on release even without managing to get hold of a stick. I know I'd be infuriated with the crappy Xbox d-pad, but I want to play it so badly. :(

I've got a quick shot pro upstairs from the speccy days. How well do you guys think it will perform on SF4?

AWESOME! Better than SSFTnutterremix edition!

i dont realy like the new remixed ones in sf4, they sound like a techno mix, at least its got the main tune in there somewhere, its like it for the rest, ryu, chunli etc..

besides you never have a chance of hearing the music in game with all the commentary, thumping and walloping sounds :D

On the off chance that maybe I could get some more info, I went in to the store I pre-ordered a TE stick from to ask about my pre-order (I was previously told by customer services contactable by the main website that my pre-order shouldn't have been able to go through).

Of course the guy I spoke to confirmed the store was not getting any and said I should have been contacted (which I was). However what didn't seem to occur to me for some reason was that in the email it said to call a number and have another pre-order arranged. When I read that initially I thought that meant a pre-order for something else completely. The guy in the store however told me that what they meant by a different pre-order was to have the order changed to from an in store one to a home delivered one! So I quickly rang the number I got and the woman I spoke to seems to think I'll get one for release date, but I'm not going believe it until I have the stick in my hands!

Well either way, I'm sure the place I ordered from probably have the biggest stock allocation in the UK so if I don't get one, I have my pre-order in the right place to hopefully get one in the next batch!

I swear they're just playing with me for kicks now and getting my hopes up only to probably have them destroyed again. :(

The TE stick, non-TE stick and pads are now in stock and "Usually dispatched within 24 hours".

They're all at full RRP but for those missed out on all the other TE pre-orders then this might be worth a shot if you've got £150 to burn and don't want to pay bay-of-pigs prices :)

I don't know whether to order one from this site as well. Would mean that if all my pre-orders come good though that I'll end up with three of the bloody things and the bill to go with them as well!

My gut feeling based on a laymans understanding of commerce is that most if not all companies don't know the particulars of whether they can actually get stock of a given item until they try and order stock.

In other words they'll just get a code on their system to order, perhaps a vague expectation of available units (or in some cases an actual allocation) and will work with that. Most other places, particularly if you end up talking to someone who just sees whatever it is you're hyped about as "random stock item #1234" will just say "it should be available" because - 99% of the time it would be.

I think a lot of people - including myself most likely - are going to be very disappointed about the available units in the UK come 20th. Of all the places it is or has been possible to order the sticks from - the proper MadCatz store is the only place I know that have categorically stated that they will be shipping this week, but even they have not mentioned numbers.

There are a number of places that are still taking pre-orders for these and I simply cannot believe all of those pre-orders can be satisfied. I imagine quite a few stores will try and put in an order with MadCatz to find that they can't have any at all.

Really tempted to hedge my bets and order 1, but it is full RRP. :(

EDIT: Ok I caved, I really want one for release day and figure worst case scenario I should get the money back selling it on if I end up with more than 1
