PS3 Bluray remote worth it?

I have it. If you wach lots of media content, blu-rays, dvds, PlayTV etc then yes, get it! Have not used the logitech one yet.

what the is the advantage of the remote over the controller? i cant see no speed increase over the basic controls... i can see the benefit if you have play tv as you have the channel numbers but what else?

genuine question btw :D

Easier to use, it's bound to be a lot quicker and more intuitive than a controller. Also means that other people who don't happen to know which controller button does what can use the basic functions.

I would say that its a bit easier to access menus etc. but once you become proficent in using the normal controller and watching DVD's there ain't much in it..

...It also uses 2xAA Battery's, not rechargeable:(

Now they've introduced the power saving option in the XMB it has made the bluray remote an essential for me. I like the fact that turning on power saving saves my controllers batteries, but if i want to pause a film i have to first connect the controller and then pause it. The blutooth remote sends the command as soon as it connects so two button presses to pause on the DS3 is one on the bluray remote.

Using the controller to watch movies is a nightmare. You need to use both hands and that can be hard if you have a drink or are eating popcorn. A remote is just a lot easier to use and has more functions. It also has an eject button.

Only bad point and this is a big one, is the fact any button turns the ps3 on. Sometimes I'll accidentally hit the blu-ray remote and not even notice the ps3 has been turned on because it doesn't make any noise.

Wow, why did I not think of that!?
What I mean is it's not able to be charged via USB like the normal controllers

I've had my remote for ages now, and never once had to change the batteries.

It doesn't start to FF/RW when you put it down on a bed like the controller does? :p

Once you learn the location of the common buttons it's just as fast as a controller for zapping round the XMB, and for PlayTV it's significantly faster (especially going to a specific channel).

I use my TV mainly for Film and TV, and I find it's just nicer to have a proper remote as well for this.

I used to find this a problem, but not as much now. Maybe I've just trained myself to not sit on the remote. :p

Jeez, if there's one comment to portray how complacent we've become as a society in terms of how lucky we are and the creature comforts we all indulge ourselves in, that is it :p

Trust me, when you have a beer in one hand and a remote in the other, it all starts to make sense. :D

I don't understand why they have this?
Surely you will have to get up anyway to retrieve said ejected DVD/Bluray??

I'd agree it sounds odd. I tend to eject so the disk is ready when I arrive at the PS3.

I have to say I agree with Robert. If I'm eating greasy popcorn with one of my hands, I'll usually be saving the other one for the remote. While you can use a controller one handed, it's a lot of hastle compared to a remote.

I used to do that too and with it being bluetooth it doesn't require line of sight like a IR controller so it would turn the bloody PS3 on even when it was in a draw!!!

I have PlayTV now due to the credit crunch (cancelled Virgin+ etc) so I use the remote a lot more than I used to so kind of got used to not knocking it now though.
