Tipping pizza delivery ppl when paying online?

well, at the pizza place I work at you had to provide your own vehicle that technically had to be insured for delivery's, to be used a commercial vehicle however for a new driver to do as such is very expensive, so you simply didn't insure it as a commercial vehicle and used your ordinary insurance, if you were to have and accident while doing deliverys we had a process, the first thing is to call up the pizza place and get them to sign you out, therefore you'd not technically be working and your insurance would be valid.

it's this sort of thing that made me quit (also the pay was rubbish)

mmmmmmmm just placed my order

Yes i'm hungry :D

Why would you tip a takeaway delivery driver?

If you went into the shop and got it, would you tip the counter assistant?

ive never tipped a devliery person before, one once tipped me a fiver but came back for it 10minutes later

if you tip delivery drivers i hope you tip couriers , the milk man and the post man aswell, maybe start tipping those bible bashers aswell and the person who delivers your morning spam

The speeding i understand, but the other bit, wha?

Do they provide insurance cover for using your own car. If you use the car on normal insurance and have an accident while delivering pizza your insurance becomes null and void i think, if it is on social and domestic cover

Why the hell would you tip for delivery or takaway.

Tipping is for outstanding customer service at a restaurant. Not for every tom, dick and harry.

If you get something regularly from the same place, some people have found tipping gets you extras. But in sense your just buying those extras anyway.

If people would stopped tipping, we might actually get decent service in the UK, but when the majority of people tip regardless of what happens. Why should waiters try hard.

Tipping is an American thing, people see it in Movies and assume we have to do it over here, its pathetic.

Over here I will only tip for good service, such as buying a barman or maid a drink when getting a round and they are attentive, the minimum wage over here more than takes care of the rest of people who cannot be bothered to perform well.

In the states its a bit different, over there I believe a standard tip is in order for standard service, and more for exceptional.

Don't you pay more for ordering online? Could have sworn the last Dominos I "spec'd" myself was more expensive than if I ordered it over the phone. Meh, that's how I justify not tipping anyway.

Yeap, but then don't forget, that even in shops, people are much more friendlier and really do bend over backwards to help you. Doesn't happen here, therefore I won't tip anybody.

I don't tip when I give them cash (other than whatever makes up the nearest pound - usually 4p) - so why would I tip when I've already paid by card.

They get paid to deliver pizzas, they don't particularly deserve any extra.

Donimos for one provide 3rd party business insurance (as long as you have normal insurance in place)

We don't tip any delivery drivers here, but given that we order from them usually once a week or so they probably don't expect it :p

Besides....it's not like takeaways are cheap in the first place! Without the various vouchers, Dominos' pricing would be astranomical.

Its hardly an issue, if you are sober - dont tip. Few beers- round up to the nearest pound. Quite drunk - couple of quid. Hammered- the contents of your wallet. Seems quite simple to me.

I work for dominoes.. it may shock you, but delivering pizza is hard work sometimes. We get 75p per delivery, as compensation for petrol used. This works out quite well sometimes if I get a lot of close addresses, but most orders are the far away new estates. At the moment I only just get my petrol paid for. When I get a tip, even just £1, its a nice bonus, and it goes a long way, in terms of petrol. Usually its just the change that people can't bothered to wait for, our credit card machines were down for a few weeks, so people had to pay with cash, I made a fair bit during that time, but now we have cards back I just hand over the pizza and get less out of it.

Basically, tip your delivery man, they will be very grateful, and the next time your address shows up, they'll be much quicker than usual :)
