Didn't think it'd be anywhere near that much, how heavy is your stuff fully laiden?

Tom.

My bag alone weighs next to nothing, so just the weight of my camera inside it and a few spare batteries. I have a seperate box I carry for my lenses and tripod.

The combination of kit I used to take out didn't come to much. But I've added a 10-20mm to my collection now. So I need a new bag!
I usually would go out with my 450D, kit lens + 30mm with a few other small bits and pieces. If I was taking my tripod I've got a seperate shoulder bag for that.
Without the tripod I'd say maybe 1.5-2kg :p

Long way to go to catch up with you Tom!

Im probably topping out at over 20Kg now. That's a fully loaded Pro Trekker with a large Gitzo tripod and gimbal head attached. At least the bag is nearly full now, so I can't add any extra lenses. Don't think my back would appreciate it. Dread to think how much id be carrying if I take the 10x8 field camera from work for a spin.

My video camera gear is 30-35KG and that will goto about 45-50KG with my crane purchase.

I was meant to fly to Germany on Friday to film a Veyron so I know I can get a decent equipment set under 20KG

which tripod is that tom?

Oh and you're bags that heavy cos you've got too much stuff :p

It's a Gitzo Carbon Fibre G1228LVL 4 section self leveller.

Also there's not that much in there:

Canon 1DSmk3
Canon EOS-40D with grip
24-70 F2.8L
85mm F1.8
50mm F1.8
Sigma 70-200 F2.8 EX DG APO Macro HSM
Canon 580ex mk2
Canon 430ex mk2
Sigma DG ST 500 Super x2
Cactus wireless triggering system
Dell XPS m1530 15.4" Laptop
Filters/memory cards/24 rechargeable AAs (4 in each flash plus 2 spare sets)
a spare BP511 for the 40D (dont have a spare for the 1DS yet, they're like £120 each :o)

It doesnt have my 20D, any of my light stands or chargers

Tom.

But how much of that do you actually need. For starters you have 2 camera bodies, unless oyu are shooting a wedding or such like then you don't absolutely need 2 bodies. Perhaps on safari when you want the Nikon 14-24mm 2.8 on your full frame camera and a 200-400 on a crop camera so you can fire away at animals and landscape instantaneously....

As for the laptop. IS it needed every shoot?

Similarly with lens choices. I normally decide on a set of complimentary lenses. E.g., there is no point taking an 5mm 1.4 lens into the mountains. And I've found that taking say just 2 primes, or a ultra wide angle (10-20mm) + a high quality telephoto (80-200 2.8) works out well to give good distinct photos, instead of hundred of generic composures that a walkabout zoom (24-105 etc) gives.

But I know you do some semi serious photo shoots with some models etc, so probably you like the choices and redundency.

Tom is that Vertex 200AW bag as I need a new bag for my kit and I think the bag you have should let me get it all. I have a flipside 200 at the moment and my kit has out grown it. My Gitzo tripod is stupidly big and not sure if I can strap it to a bag.

D300 with grip (soon to be D3)
17-55mm f2.8
10-20mm Sigma
50mm AFS f1.4
70-200mm f2.8 VR
SB-600 Speed light
SB-800 Speed light
Lee filter system with 105mm B&W Polarizer
Gitzo 1508 Tripod

Full bag + flask and food extra clothing strapped on, for the mountain climbing twice weekly trips

Nikon D300 + MD10grip + spare batt's
Nikon 300 F/2.8 VR
Nikon 70-200 F/2.8 VR
Bush Hawk rifle mount
Nikon 1.4 and 1.7 TC
Tamrac expedition 8 weighs over 3 KG empty
1 Lt flask and liquid just over 2 KG

All I know when I get to the top of the Mountain twice a week I am totally and utterly pooped.

Probably not much, only carry around a D60 and 18-55 lens haha. Can't afford a tripod yet, or anything else come to that hehe.
