The intention of starting a new thread is to hopfully get some tips.
Now I'm not new to gaming, and normally a good alrounder, playing online I normally do quite well, even with "beat em ups"
However....I sat down yesterday with Street Fighter 4 for around 4 hours. At first I struggled to pull off the moves, so much harder than the likes of Mortal Kombat and Fight night. Then I "thought I'd mastered Ken and Chun Li, but still got stuck half way through their single player modes.
Fair enough I thought the game itself must be hard....lets have a go online instead.
I went into unranked to start me off and I played countless games over the next 2 hours, and I didnt win one!!!!!
Where am I going wrong?? why am I so poor?? I still find the Ultra combos quite hard to pull off but I can do them 1 in 3 trys.

It was similar for me with SC4. At least as faras muliplayer goes.

I think the trick is to stick with one character and just practise untill you can win a few rounds online. After that you can look to branching out with other characters.

Man im the same, or was .. just got to practice over and over.

Up to 900battle points online now and winning 3 to every loss, there or there abouts.
Took me pretty much untill thismorning since release to 'Crack it' and start winning.

I mean, i still suck hardcore but at least i dont get stomped anymore :D

I was hoping you could buy charecter upgrades, but oh well I loved SF2 Turbo so it's deffinitly going to be a buy.

Same here. My time on SC4 almost seems successful compared to this :p
I get stuck on 3rd/4th opponent in Arcade on NORMAL . I've not won a match against Streeteh or rp2k, in fact they beat me with the character that I've been focusing on!

I'm ok against people on here, i've even managed to squeeze a win out of some people i'd consider very good at the game. That said, as soon as i jump into a ranked game i just end up throwing my controller down on the sofa in a strop; i've probably had around 50 ranked games yet my BP still stands at 0, i just can't seem to beat ANYONE.

I won three ranked games in a row by being very selective and only playing people if they have the 1st avatar (the young tree thing) selected. But since those 3 I've not won another one!

the trouble with SF is that there are a lot of fanboys that have spent a lot of time on previous SF games and skills are very transferable (usually a slight change in combos and learning a new type of mve i.e. the EX cancels etc. Just keep practicing it will come in time

Couldn't agree more!

Just keep practicing, it will come with time. I still suck but online play has improved my skills.
