Asda just rang

Ok, an update! well I have already had a letter requesting the money again which I quickly threw in the bin. However another one arrived this morning.
Here's a snippet from the letter:
FINAL REMINDER - Outstanding payment for home shopping order:xxxxxxxx
We have not recieved payment to date. we value your custom and are keen to resolve this matter asap. Unless payment is recieved within ten working days we will pass the matter to our debt recovery agents and our instructions will be to pursue the full amount of debt together with costs and interest.

Ok a quick reminder what happened - I got an online shop around Christmas time, then 2 weeks later I got a call from them saying that the payment never went through due to their systems going down. Anyone here in the know legally as to where I stand with this? any help would be appreciated.
At the minute im at the point of just ringing them and coughing up, what would you guys do if you were in the same situation?

Cheers
Matt

Its very curious as they should simply be able to reapply for payment unless the original payment bounced. Even then they should still be able to reapply on the credit / debit card used.

The only exception would be if they lost the transaction details which would involve losing the actual data itself which is much more serious. Very strange...

Although if they have passed / are about to pass it to a debt collection agency it really is not worth the hassle ignoring it.

As others have advised contact their head office directly - look up the number from the web - do not use the one on the letter and see what they say.

make sure it's not a scam.

I had someone phoning me from pizza hut saying that I ordered a pizza from them for home delivery (which I did) and that my credit card payment did not go through and they wanted me to give them my details over the phone.... I had to think for a few seconds and then I said that I was not going to do that and asked for them to come round to my house as they could be anyone. He moaned about it for a bit but sent someone over. He could have been anyone and I am meant to just give my card details out at the drop of a hat.

Too true! If you received what you ordered and the money was not taken from your account then you should pay up.

Im fully aware that morally I should pay up! even if it was their mistake, I just wanted to know legally if I am required to pay up due to it being their error. Remember that these supermarkets are robbing each and every one of us with their over inflated prices and their billions of pounds in profits etc. Just take a look around you! what do you see? yes thats right Supermarkets everywhere ffs. They are taking over our country, everwhere you look there's a goddam Tesco express being built :D So to "get one over" on Asda would be a well earned bonus tbh :D

Again any legal advice would be most appreciated.

What you should have done is paid when they first asked you. This was in all of the papers and on the news back in January. You are legally and morally obliged to pay for the goods that you have recieved. Do it now before you end up having debt collectors called in and your credit rating trashed.

Have a look for an alternative on here - *****************************/

EDIT - damn OcUK don't like the site, just Google for an alternative number.
