whats the best 24" to get

Im looking for a all rounder thats awsome for High def movies and gameing.
with no ghosting at all.

to 5ms monitors ghost ? i guess im better with 2ms right ?
also has to have a good gramut with a 1920x1200 resolution.


i was thinking of getting the Acer but after the nightmare thread of people getting constant backlight bleed its put me off them.


what monitors do you guys recommend.

budget £320 tops.

avoid the Acer, it is a nightmare.

5ms wont ghost. so dont worry about that. Ghosting is never an issue these days.

Well I am afte 2 x 24" monitors and thus can't spend too much and need a screen with good colours as I do 3d Modelling but one I can also game on.

I have been recommended the Benq FP241W, have a look on google for some reviews. Oh and this is a PVA panel thus you get the better colours, I have found this for £303-£312.

yeah but guys that pannel only has

1000/1 ratio and 6ms responce times.

its gonna suck when watching 1080p and playing games, ghosting/bluring ect

am i wrong in my thinking :/

Which are actually true for once.
Only S-PVA's can achieve 1500:1 while other panel types are 1000:1 at most regardless what ********departments claim.

Also "5" ms TNs have in reality 13-15ms average response time while specs of more expensive IPS and VA displays are actually quite accurate.
So in fact it's generic TNs which have lot more ghosting.
(RTC equipped smaller 2ms TNs have around 4ms average response time)

all i want is a 24 pannel that doesnt ghost/blur at all when watching movies and pro gameing and finaly i hate backlight bleeding.

im probably going to end up taking a risk and getting the Acer, i just cant seem to find a pannel in my price range with the type of specs that acer has.

if i get dead pixels or really bad backlight bleeding though it will be going back to OCUK and i will pick something diffrent.

This is proably the bset 24" you can get tbh. i have one and it is incredible. I dont think youll find a review taht says otherwize. I suggest you get the benq fp241w, the colours are incredible and i can stand directly next to the monitor and there is no colour shift what so ever. Blacks are very well represented indeed. Contrast numbers can mean anything tbh, its how the monitor displays them that matters. Also a 6ms is perfectly fine. This is not an idication of ghosting and you will notice no difference betwen 2ms and 6ms.

2ms screens are infact inferior screens with poor colour representation in comparison and terrible viewing angles. They are TN pannels. personly dont understand why peoople spend their money on them. Quality iover quanity, get a better 22" if you can't fit a desent 24" into your budget in my opinion anyway.

anything quoting under 16ms response is quoting the Grey to Grey(G2G) timing.

Most if not all monitors have a Black to White response time of 16-24ms

mmm i never checked if it was discountinued. Im suprised considering how good it is. can probably still pick them up places. Possibly quite cheap now. Mine cost me £470 back when i got it.

It seems most people dont want to pay for PVA screens as there are loads of TN panels getting cheaper. Even now they appear cheap at £300, you can still get a 24" TN for £150-£200.

well to be honest i have no doubt that the PVA panels are overpriced in comparison to cost of production and retail price. But its just something you accepted that you had to pay for quality before. As far as i can see now there is no excuse But hey, people buying those TN pannels are making it cheaper for us to get the PVA ones. One way to look at it huh? Although one might argue eventualy prices will go up even higher on PVA much like expensive cpu's etc and range of them will decrease.
