What stops microwaves?

When I was younder I managed to get the microwave on with the door open and I put my hand in for a second then got scared.

Just make sure the door is shut each time you use it, you'll be fine.

Or alternatively, find two animals that you've always wanted to see a hybrid of....like pigeon-rat and see what happens when you put them near it.

Failing that, fight fire with fire and nuke it from orbit.
 
So lets get this straight, you were microwaving something for 20(!!!) minutes, the door just happened to open and the switch that detects the open door failed as well.

OK.
 
If you're a woose, trip the breaker.

If it were me, walk in and close the door. The microwave radiation is pretty ineffective outside the confined space of the death ray, I mean microwave oven.

Well i personally wasn't. I can only assume it was set up as a sort of killing device for an unsuspecting victim, but i already have a black housemate.

I was going to use foil. But i remembered what happened when I leave cutlery in it. So i just ran fast and turned it off. Thought about putting a sign on it 'Careful contains microwaves' But then thought that would be stupid so just left it. Wonder if it will happen again.

Just think... as you reach towards the microwave to turn it off, your fingers and hand will begin to cook. By the time you have stopped the microwave your flesh will be medium rare and you will have a bonus snack to munch on!
